Biomerics Interventional Medical Plastics division supports the company vision through manufacturing small and large plastic components and assemblies for several market-leading radiology, robotic surgery equipment, and interventional device suppliers. Biomerics’ Interventional Medical Plastics division is seeking to hire a Senior Process Engineer in Fairfield, CA.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
• You will support plastic component manufacturing and assembly for medical equipment products such as surgical robots and interventional carts using various plastics manufacturing methods including:
o Liquid Resin Casting (rigid & elastomeric polyurethane & silicone)
o Pressure Thermoforming
o Commercial Additive Manufacturing (3D printing)
o Finishing (wet painting & conductive coating)
o CNC Machining
• You will ensure manufacturing processes run consistently and meet performance targets, primarily maximizing productivity of the equipment and minimizing yield loss from the process.
• You will standardize and document manufacturing processes and operations.
• You will analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues relating to the safety, efficacy, quality, cost, or delivery of components and finished devices.
• You will identify, lead, and implement cross-functional process/product improvement alternatives to optimize yield, efficiency, throughput, and/or performance.
• You will design coordinate, execute, and document engineering tests and experiments to evaluate product and/or process performance.
• You will design, procure, and/or fabricate manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
• You will conduct qualification, verification, and validation activities.
• You will train, develop, and provide direction to operators and technicians.
• You will collaborate with sales and new product development staff to evaluate designs for manufacturability (DFM) and create manufacturing estimates.
• You will represent the company in interactions with customer engineering and quality representatives related to technical aspects of the manufacturing processes.
• You will work within the constraints of budget, schedule, and scope while managing risk and ensuring adherence to established processes and regulations.
• You will collaborate with Engineering teams across the Biomerics family of businesses.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• 7 years of work experience process engineering
• 3 years of supervising engineers
Preferred Skills:
• 5 years of work experience in plastics manufacturing
• Medical device and/or regulatory industry experience
• Lean Six Sigma experience, specifically reducing scrap
• Experience managing projects and use of project management software (e.g. Microsoft Project, ERP systems)
• Experience with advanced problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis
• Statistical analysis
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis with preference for experience with DFM for pressure thermoforming and resin casting.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling software (MasterCAM and SolidWorks)
• Strong communication and presentation skills
