Director Corporate Development and Strategy

Job Summary
The Director of Corporate Development & Strategy will be a key member of the global BioNTech corporate development & strategy team and will be based out of our US headquarters in Cambridge, MA. S/he will have a high-profile role and will gain first hand strategic and operating experience while helping to build a premier biotechnology company. This high energy individual will wear many hats and will have the capacity to drive numerous complex projects forward simultaneously.
Responsibilities
The areas of responsibilities will include:
  • Drive global corporate strategy efforts including setting franchise area strategy, identification of new growth opportunities, evaluation of build/buy/partner opportunities and other special projects as needed to advance our business.
  • Support pipeline programs through development of overall program strategy, contributing to development plans for programs, building and updating value creation models, conducting market analyses, performing competitive intelligence and providing analytical support for key program decisions.
  • Closely collaborate with business development, legal, commercial, and R&D teams to support strategic transactions including creation of asset valuations and business models.
  • Support portfolio prioritization efforts and align/plan resources appropriately.
  • Act as strategic thought partner to C-suite and BOD in the creation, refinement, articulation, and execution of BioNTech’s business and science strategy.
  • This role reports to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy in Cambridge, MA.
Requirements
  • Scientific undergraduate training with experience in biopharma industry, life science management with 8 plus years of experience in consulting and/or comparable experience required; Graduate degree (PhD, MD, MBA) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to drive the business forward through application of a deep understanding of the science and broad knowledge of drug development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with prior experience presenting to C-suite and BOD level professionals.
  • Collaborative attitude with strong relationship management skills, adept at working with many different disciplines both inside and outside of the company.
  • Strategic thinker with strong grasp of analytic tools including asset valuations and a track record of developing high impact insights.
  • Ability to quickly dissect and develop evidence-based assessments for R&D programs and technology platforms in a competitive context.
  • Prior oncology experience from academia or industry preferred.
  • Passionate about delivering transformative therapies to patients required.
  • Hands-on, roll-up-the sleeves, high energy individual with a positive “nothing is impossible” attitude.
