Die Casting Production Manager - Birmingham, AL

This position offers a day shift schedule with 10-hour workdays from Monday to Thursday, and additional hours on Fridays as needed. General Summary:
The Manufacturing Supervisor - Die Casting will be responsible for overseeing all operations within the department, including production quality, employee management, safety regulations, and daily production standards.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enforce safety regulations within the department.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of department employees.
- Resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances in consultation with management.
- Participate in the hiring process, including reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions or recommendations.
- Train, counsel, and discipline employees within the department.
- Coordinate operations and activities with other supervisors and departments.
- Inspect materials, products, or equipment for defects.
- Manage time and attendance tasks using Microsoft Dynamics AX.
- Analyze production records and reports to determine requirements and evaluate current estimates.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness in the workspace.
- Conduct inventory controls and cycle counts for accuracy.
- Plan and establish work schedules and assignments to meet production goals.
- Demonstrate equipment operations and safety procedures to new employees.
- Monitor production standards and ensure compliance.
Departmental Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
In addition to the above duties, the Manufacturing Supervisor in the Die Cast department will:
- Initiate changes in casting cycle times and process parameters to ensure quality.
- Supervise the operation of equipment, including Die Cast Machines, Trim Presses, Laundry System, and Melting Furnace.
- Analyze, organize, and plan production to meet customer needs.
- Perform data entry via production reports.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects and audits.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve production-related needs.
- Document training events and ensure implementation within the department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in HPDC troubleshooting and quality control within a die casting environment.
- Experience with MRP/ERP software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Physical Requirements:
The employee must be able to stand, walk, sit, and communicate effectively. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.

The work environment is usually loud, and hearing protection may be required in some manufacturing departments.
