Responsibilities:

  • Assist controller with overseeing day-to-day full-cycle accounting processes
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Maintain prepaid register, prepare & enter journal entries into the system
  • Maintain fixed assets register, prepare & enter journal entries into the system
  • Prepare and post all the journal entries into the system
  • Reconciliation of various general ledger accounts
  • Bank reconciliation and banking activities
  • Coordination of client billing, cash receipts, and collection management
  • Coordination of vendor invoice entries and payment management
  • Coordination of employee expense management
  • Coordination of Canadian and U.S Payroll processing and compliance
  • General support and working with the accounting team
  • Tax filings, reconciliations, and audits as they occur
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Preparation of audit working papers 
  • Ensure compliance with ASPE and internal controls
  • Suggest ways to improve processes, efficiencies, and spending
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned


Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years of relevant experience with full-cycle financial accounting and processes, including inventory management
  • Completion or enrollment in CPA designation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Hands-on experience with various accounting software packages; experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft D365 an asset
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Understanding of ASPE
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, high degree of accuracy, and a strong sense of urgency & adherence to deadlines.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and able to identify unusual entries, discrepancies, or problems, and resolve independently
  • Hands-on experience with various accounting software packages; experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft D365 an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team, with a passion for making continuous improvements
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills


Location:

  • This role is on site. The candidate will report to our Toronto HQ.


This role will require the candidate to complete background checks (includes but not limited to: references, educational verification, criminal check, credit check - where applicable). Certain roles may also require testing.
