REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Is directly accountable and responsible to the Director of Athletics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for recruiting and coaching female and male intercollegiate cross country and track and field athletes who are capable students and competitive athletes.
- Responsible for assisting with fund raising to support athletic grants in aid and athletic expenses.
COMPENSATION: $40,000

Recruits and coaches Cross Country and track and field athletes - 70%
- Recruits the required number of quality intercollegiate level student athletes for the women's and men's cross country and track and field team, as stated in the most recent coach's manual.
- Advises and counsels student athletes on enrollment procedures, financial aid, and academic/vocational programs.
- Motivates reporting student athletes to attend classes, to study, and to graduate, and monitors student athletes' school attendance, grades, and personal conduct. Conducts grade checks for student athletes twice per semester and ensures proper help utilizing the Learning Skills Center.
- Facilitates sports techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics.
- Facilitates sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to one's team.
- In cooperation with the Director, schedules games and tournaments for assigned teams and monitors and adheres to budget guidelines.
- Manages the traveling funds for assigned teams.
- Coordinates the purchase, inventory, repair, and maintenance of uniforms/supplies for assigned teams.
- Schedules and supervises practices and physical conditioning for assigned teams.
- Supervises assigned assistant coaches.
- Handles game day assignments including gymnasium set-up and/or field preparation.
Assists with fund-raising - 25%
- Assists the Athletic Director with fund raising activities and takes personal responsibility for a portion of the Department's fund-raising goal.
Miscellaneous duties - 5%
- Supports innovation, creativity, and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc., in the department and as a whole for the college.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

- Occasionally - 1-33% - Reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl, or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Appropriate bachelor's degree.
- Two years of cross country and track and field coaching experience.
- Effective public and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of a specific sport's concepts/strategies and NJCAA rules and regulations.
- Recruiting skills and ability to assess athletic talent.
- Leadership and motivational skills, and ability to serve as a positive role model.
- Ability to sell the College and its athletic program to potential students.
- Ability to organize and implement fund raising projects.
- Good computer software skills - Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.), email and electronic calendar.
- Ability to build and sustain a successful intercollegiate athletic program.
- College coaching experience.
