Position summary
Bitfury is hiring a Chief Accountant, a key member of the Finance team based in Kazakhstan.
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller this position will manage all aspects of general accounting for the entities under his/her responsibility including but not limited to: periodic and fiscal year-end close processes, fixed assets, cash, account reconciliations, consolidations and technical accounting to ensure accurate maintenance, recording and reporting of financial data according to local generally accepted accounting principles and IFRS.
This role will partner with the local executive team, providing financial input on proposed and ongoing initiatives; minimising financial risk to the Bitfury organisation.
The successful candidate needs to be deadline focused; ability to multi-task; assess processes, prioritise and implement improvements and manage multiple sites.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and management of small team, initially 1 direct report
- Ensure compliance with all aspects of indirect and direct local tax (liaising with the Tax dept as appropriate)
- As main point of finance contact for the local business you will provide finance support to operational initiatives (planned and active)
- Ensure that the services provided are compliant with local/regional laws; monitor changes in laws to ensure ongoing compliance
- Responsible for accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, general ledger, intercompany, banking and accuracy of financial statements in accordance with IFRS, and local GAAP where applicable.
- Oversee all aspects of the general ledger including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, allocations and account reconciliations
- Ensure tight cost control over all aspects of Data Center operations including the construction related capex
- Ensure timely and accurate periodic close requiring effective collaboration with business units and other finance department managers
- Maintain and review internal control compliance procedures; ensuring alignment with Global procedures
- Key contact for local external audits
- Support and help drive a culture of continuous process improvement at all levels of the organization
- Manage and report performance and operational metrics, as applicable
- Review and evaluate accounting policies and procedures, proactively recommend changes where appropriate, institute changes for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead, develop and challenge the finance team to excel
- Fully support the leadership team in implementing the business strategy
- Champion Bitfury’s Vision and Mission, and ensure Finance initiatives are aligned
- Assist in ad hoc and special projects as requested.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Recognised professional accountancy qualification i.e. ACCA, CIMA, ACA (or equivalent) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required
- A minimum of 6 years post-qualified experience including tier1/2 practice, plus 2 years relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of local accounting/tax rules, plus IFRS accounting
- Process expert on the 1C accounting system
- Must have strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focus
- Exhibit strong leadership skills and a team player
- Fluent written/spoken English
- Desirable: Exposure to NetSuite Financials, and appreciation of upstream modules
- Desirable: Cost accounting experience in managing fabless manufacturing processes
