Role Purpose
Provides critical care support within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care to ICU patient populations from a remote monitoring center using multiple complex computer systems. Utilizes several data streams to identify and interpret trends and acute changes in patient physiology, monitor compliance of care bundles and protocols, and collaborates with the bedside multidisciplinary health care team using effective communication and clinical decision making skills. The goal is to achieve optimal patient outcomes including the reduction of inpatient mortality, ICU length of stay, ICU readmissions and patient safety events.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the care 25-35 critically ill patients with acutely changing conditions of all possible disease states in general and specialty units across an Academic Medical Center, including Medical, Surgical, Coronary, Cardiothoracic and Neurologic ICU?s to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Utilizes knowledge base of complex computer applications to collect, analyze and interpret data, required for the evaluation of APACHE Scoring, clinical deterioration, and smart alerts which require immediate clinical decisions to support the collaboration of care of a large number of critically ill patients
- Supports the bedside staff for a large patient ratio to monitor comprehensive compliance of best practice protocols and care bundles aimed at reduction of Mortality, Length of Stay, ICU Readmissions, and Patient Safety Events.
- Responsible for training new and rotational TeleICU RN?s and Health Care Assistants for the comprehensive care, collaboration, and effective communication and decision making required of a TeleICU RN.
