Accounting and Procurement Associate

We are searching for an Accounting and Procurement Associate to join our team. The position suits someone who is comfortable working with numbers, is detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a collaborative, design-inspired business.
In this position, you will be responsible for accurately placing and checking orders for our designers, which requires an understanding of cabinetry manufacturers' catalogs, an eye for detail, and a high level of accuracy. Under the supervision of the Director of Business Services, you will handle various accounting tasks, such as managing accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Create and send accurate invoices to customers and monitor payment statuses
- Receive and record payments in the accounting software and other filing systems
- Deposit check payments using an electronic check scanner
- Create and manage vendors and customers in the accounting system
- Manage vendor invoices; receive and enter bills in the accounting system
- Run weekly accounts payable: Select bills to pay, print and send checks
- Accurately place orders, review orders, and check the status of orders in several different online systems
- Accurately enter order details into an accounting system
- Rapidly learn the offerings of multiple suppliers using their supplier catalogs
- Review orders and order acknowledgments for accuracy
- Proactively communicate the status of orders
- Enter service requests into scheduling software
- Call customers to schedule deliveries and service visits and to make payment arrangements
- Follow, develop, document, and revise written procedures using a wiki software tool
Required Skills:
- At least one year working in a finance or accounting role
- Have experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online
- Skilled with Microsoft Windows and the Microsoft Office suite
- Mathematical proficiency: quick and accurate in performing mental arithmetic without transposing numbers
- Attention to detail
- Effective communication
- Ability to interpret manufacturer ordering book layouts and measurements
Desired Skills:
- Worked in a home design or renovation-related business
- Experience or training in a design-related field
