The Cheesemonger ensures that the entire sales team makes all customers -- from celebrity, local or weekender-- feel comfortable finding cheeses they’ll love by offering friendly guidance, camaraderie, and community to our customers. You have the ability to listen to the customer and offer articulate, sensible and delicious suggestions. Building relationships with customers over the counter is paramount to our success. We seek someone outgoing, cheerful, and friendly; someone who will make our customers feel like guests in our home, rather than strangers in a store. The Larder’s Cheesemonger acts as a representative of the brand both in the shop, at events and on social media: networking, learning from, and educating the surrounding community.

Responsibilities Include:
- Stay up to date on local, national and global cheese and charcuterie news and trends and maintain strong relationships with cheese makers, distributors and educators
- Manage existing purchasing program and product mix that works in balance with local farms, new sensations, customer favorites, holidays, etc.
- Create social media content about our cheese and meat program, featuring you!
- Grow profitability of cheese and meat categories though merchandising, product mix, pricing, understanding of waste and shrink
- Develop exisiting catering program and ensure consistent customer satisfaction (make our cheese and charcuterie boards, delicious, beauitful and more profitable)
- Cut, wrap, care for and maintain proper storage and handling of all types of cheese on display and in backstock
- Keep POS, retail and online sales channel up to date by inputing new items, writing descriptions
- Maintain cleanliness and order of cheese case, create proper signage
- Follow all FOH protocols including proper opening & closing procedures, FIFO, proficiency with other sales categories
- Create & implement (in collaboration with Bklyn Larder Mgmt Team) unique Cheese Education programs for customers complete with calendar of proposed events, pairings, and rate structure and teammates including proper cheese handling techniques, tips for sales, and any new items
Salary : $16 - $20
