Position Summary:

HR Responsibilities:
Summary of HR responsibilities of this position advises and acts as a guardian for the Firm by attracting, managing, developing, rewarding and retaining our global workforce, our most important asset. The Director of HR will focus on all human capital initiatives, including diversity initiatives, recruiting, performance management, employee relations issues, talent development and year-end processes (performance ranking, promotion roundtables, performance evaluation and compensation).
Actively working with senior managers, employees, and global and regional colleagues to drive the people initiatives across the organization, including:
Resourcing:
Resourcing:
- Partner with the business to understand resource requirements and assist with headcount planning
- Work proactively with the BDC General Counsel on the sourcing strategy for all levels. Help structure standard and complex external offers and set appropriate compensation levels for new hires
- Manage relationships with third-party service providers and vendors to ensure execution of duties to the highest standard.
- Understand and apply applicable policies and approvals processes
- Manage and continuously improve the HR processes
- Ensure alignment with BDC’s development and diversity
- Participate in developing policy and procedure framework for managing a growing firm
- Implement process for tracking metrics and key performance indicators
Employee Relations:
- Partner with BDC’s PEO firm and the Employee Relations team, employment counsel, and compliance (as appropriate) to interpret and apply BDC’s policies and procedures
- Advise and coach managers across a wide range of employee relations issues considering best practice, legislative framework and commercial outcome
- Influence managers and work with them to deal effectively and appropriately with the management of a range of performance issues
- Serve as mentor to the team through training, development and oversight of daily activities
- Manage relationships with third-party service providers and vendors to ensure execution of duties to the highest standard.
Talent Management:
- Monitor the evaluation process to ensure timely and effective communication
- Support managers who have specific performance issues they wish to address through the evaluation process
- Within the context of business priorities, work proactively with managers to identify and develop top talent and successors to critical roles. Work with Learning & Development as required to ensure appropriate training and leadership development is delivered to employees
Diversity & Inclusion:
- Actively support and reinforce firm wide diversity initiatives
- Ensure Diversity & Inclusion is woven through all of our division wide talent, development, hiring, compensation and promotion processes
Promotion and Compensation:
- Assist the General Counsel with producing compensation and promotion analytics to present to the business
- Assist the General Counsel with driving the year-end compensation and promotion processes in partnership with managers in the business
- Assist with running the promotion roundtable
- Advise managers to ensure they pay fairly for performance, and conduct a fair and robust assessment of promotion candidates
- Oversee job matching for external salary surveys in conjunction with HR’s compensation teams
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- A minimum of 8 years of related and progressive HR leadership experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Team player and self-starter, with strong attention to detail and project management skills
- Flexibility and ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to develop strong relationships across a diverse employee base, and while establishing trust and credibility with managers at all levels and across HR and throughout the firm
- HR certifications are a plus
