Catering Manager

Black Seed Bagels is a fast growing, wood-fired bagel bakery with seven locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Black Seed’s artisanal product has been featured on the Food Network, the Travel Channel, Good Day NY, and in such publications as the New York Times, New York Magazine, Time Out, The Village Voice, and more.

We are seeking a Catering Manager who is a hard-working, enthusiastic, self-starter. Applicants should be highly engaged, organized, and passionate about delivering fantastic guest service. This position supervises the sales, communications, planning, delivery, set up, and proper invoicing for all daily events. Building and maintaining catering sales is a top priority for this position.

The Catering Manager is also responsible for the company’s wholesale relationships. They will work closely with the Culinary Director on menu innovations and execution. Applicants should be kind and team-oriented, and show an interest in food that is fresh, thoughtful and artisanal.

Job Responsibilities

• Developing strategic initiatives, and creating/building strong client partnerships

• Ability to leverage current client database

• Successfully executing catering services, exceeding clients' expectations

• Creating plans and goals to support current catering sales and build future clientele

• Search, approach, and acquire new corporate accounts

• Plan food and beverage menus with support of our culinary team

• Lead the team to provide consistent execution and exemplary service to clients

• Handle complaints, concerns, and service issues with confidence and dignity; focus on finding solutions and resolving issues

• Collaborate with the marketing team on the execution of upcoming initiatives, marketing promotions, and events

• Oversee food prep and client service

• Support future automation for catering processes

• Create and manage financial budgets and sales forecasts for the catering and event-planning department.

Qualifications and Skill Set

• 2 years experience in a catering leadership/management role

• Knowledge of catering/events, food/beverage, and the retail/hospitality industry

• Able to deliver results, meeting deadlines and targets

• Has excellent communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal

• Computer proficiency including knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), POS system, and order management tools.

• Sense of urgency as well as maintaining professional composure under pressure

• Organized and efficient use of time management and is detail oriented

• Ability to work a flexible schedule

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
