What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Engineer position at Black Tie Products?
Summary:
The Design Engineer will design and develop new products and prepare product modifications for Black Tie’s product lines.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Drafting, editing, and finalizing design plans and details using appropriate symbols and drafting.
- Estimate and analyze production costs by working closely with plant managers and purchasing.
- Prepare cost estimate spreadsheets for bids as required.
- Create bills of materials for newly designed products and maintain/update all revisions to B.O.M.s.
- Prioritize cost savings through out all processes, offering value engineered solutions.
- Use of 2D and 3D computer applications to ensure proper fit, form and function.
- Create and review final designs and layouts.
- Maintain engineering documentation to correlate with current manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Answer questions from production floor team on drawings providing them with clear information so they can build efficiently.
- When errors or inadequate information are identified on drawings or build documentation, correct, update all related documentation and share information with pertinent team members.
- Assist the sales team with engineered conceptual drawings and define specifications.
- Maintain a highly level of involvement in the assembly of prototypes.
- Assist as needed with 5S and Lean manufacturing activities.
- Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience/Training/Education:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Expertise in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Ability to communicate quickly, clearly, and effectively across multiple departments.
- Confidently interact with customers, peers, and cross functional teams.
- Ability to work successfully in a strong team environment.
- Excellent communicator.
- Superior organizational skills.
