Description/Job Summary
Primary duties will include but not limited to planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring a fire safety plan that addresses specific fire and life safety systems for a commercial/residential building. Secondarily, ensuring the property is adequately controlled and secured from internal and external threats. The FLSD will respond to emergency incidents, coordinate with First Responders, building engineers as needed.
General Responsibilities
- Ensure the security, safety and well-being of all occupants, visitors, and the premises.
- Monitor and responding to the building Fire Command Station to address/prevent fire or other life safety related concerns.
- Respond to emergencies by following appropriate emergency response proceedings.
- Enforce compliance of all fire and life safety policy and procedure as required by FDNY, BCI and the client.
- Control access to client site or facility through the admittance process.
- Assist visitors with a legitimate need to gain entry to the facility.
- Screen visitors and client employees in an efficient manner to expedite their admittance to the site or facility.
- Follow procedures for fire prevention, property patrol, and accident investigations.
- Monitoring fire control panels and making appropriate announcements.
- Testing fire control and alarm systems as required.
- Revise and maintain all assignments of Fire Safety personnel and associated logs. Post all floor fire safety team information as required by law.
- Planning and executing fire drills and evacuations.
- Conduct elevator fire recall function as required.
- Assist with Security Officer coverage, static/mobile patrolling, threat identification, access control, activity, and incident reporting.
- Professional telephone etiquette and message delivery.
- Accurately log guest packages and ensure accountability.
- Provide excellent customer service.
Experience/Knowledge
- A minimum of 1-year experience in the supervision of Fire safety in a building.
- By education or experience possess the knowledge to administrate a fire safety program within the parameters of all local ordinances and building standards.
- Must possess NY Fire Safety Director Certification (F89/T89) and ability to take on-site testing and certification.
- Must have some experience with fire panel operation, building evacuations, etc.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
- Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard.
- Ability to provide quality customer service.
- Ability to handle typical and crisis situations efficiently and effectively at client site.
- NYS Security License and FSD Certificate (F89/T89).
Applicants without F89/T89 certificates will not be considered.
