What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Trainer - Certified position at Blackwood Campus?
POSITION GOALS
The Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for supporting the mission and strategic objectives of Camden County College. The Athletic Trainer will provide support for student athletes by preventing, recognizing, managing, and rehabilitating injuries that result from participation in athletics. The Athletic Trainer will demonstrate and promote a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for athletic team coverage and the daily operation of the athletic training facilities.
- Implement a comprehensive athletic training program to include injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, nutrition plans, assessment/clinical diagnosis, emergent care, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student athletes.
- Assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads or braces.
- Develop baseline pre-concussion testing with paper or electronic records for all athletes.
- Maintain compliance with all rules, regulations, trends regarding athletic training and wellness.
- Conduct all phases of collecting and processing student athlete pre-season physical exam packets to ensure approval by a medical physician.
- Ensure that all student athletes follow protocols for proper use of training facilities.
- Maintain the highest standard of care for maintaining sanitary conditions in the training room and adjacent areas.
- Maintain a daily athletic care injury report and submit to designated supervisor(s) and keep coaches informed of all injury progress of their respective athlete(s).
- Serve as the college liaison between the student athlete and their physician or healthcare provider regarding injury prevention, rehabilitation and claim submission. Refer athletes requiring medical attention to physicians per college protocol.
- Maintain compliancy with HIPAA requirements in the maintenance of student medical records, including; incident reports, insurance information and claims.
- Responsible for making recommendations for budgeting and overseeing inventory to support the job function.
- Provide athletic training services and support to both home and visiting teams during home games.
- Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
- Share professional literature relative to athletic training with the school’s coaching staff.
- Submit all insurance information and claims to the College’s legal department.
- Assist and monitor laundry and equipment room in conjunction with the athletic department administration and Coaching Staff.
- Perform other related administrative duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
- Ability to work directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends and some holidays.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- NATABOC certification required. Must maintain current NJ State Medical Licensure, including current First Aid, CPR/AED, and Continuing Education requirements.
- Two years’ experience in intercollegiate athletic training preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to function in a service and team-oriented environment with a variety of individuals including faculty, students, staff, etc.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.

Special Instructions for Applicants
The working hours are determined by the team needs; however, the standard working hours are as follows: Academic Year: Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Summer: Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Flexible hours will include evenings, weekends and some holidays, ground or air travel to a national tournament as needed.
