Your Role...:
Is responsible for overall compliance of vendors in routing product, overseeing parcel, LTL and import transportation and teaming up with various departments to provide efficiencies in the transportation of goods.
Major Responsibilities but not limited to:
- Manage transportation operations for domestic and imported goods into multiple distribution centers to ensure achievement of company objectives pertaining to productivity, accuracy, timeliness, and cost efficiencies
- Manage existing agreements with providers and explore new carrier options. Negotiate new contracts and rates.
- Have industry knowledge of transportation classifications and regulations to ensure accurate rates and handling of goods.
- Identify opportunities to improve logistical efficiencies across the supply-chain operation
- Define appropriate metrics and lead the implementation of transportation strategies and analytics.
- Coordinate RfQ’s from a selection of freight forwarders to minimize cost of import shipments
- Oversee communications and document processing via customs broker
- Identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions where appropriate.
- Conduct market intelligence research on potential service disruptions, cost fluctuations, and risk exposure and report proposed solutions to senior management.
- Oversee maintenance of internal database assessing correct harmonized tariff codes.
- Responsible for adherence to requirements of Fish & Wildlife regulations
- Responsible for assessing and implementing system codes for NMFC, VOC and harmonized tariffs
- Responsible for compliancy with hazardous shipping regulations, ensuring staff maintains proper certification
- Responsibilities as assigned by Director of Purchasing or Sr. VP of Operations.
Qualification Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Excel
- Ability to apply skill sets both creatively and analytically
- Ability to work independently while handling multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to effectively communicate to numerous departments in person, over the phone, and via email correspondence
- Flexibility in schedule to meet deadlines which may include overnight and weekend work or travel
- Understand and respond to appropriate tasks with a sense of urgency
- Bachelor’s degree required, with emphasis in business, supply chain or other related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
