Job Summary:
The Grant Consultant is responsible for identifying, researching, and developing grant proposals for our nonprofit organization to seek funding opportunities. The consultant will work closely with staff to understand our funding needs, develop a strategic plan, and create compelling grant applications to secure local, state, and federal funding.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Research:
- Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, private foundations, and corporations.
- Analyze the eligibility requirements, funding priorities, and application processes for identified grants.
- Stay up-to-date with trends in grant funding and changes in grant regulations.
Proposal Development:
- Collaborate with clients to understand their project goals, objectives, and funding needs.
- Write, edit, and review grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents.
- Ensure that all grant applications are aligned with the funder’s guidelines and priorities.
- Submit grant applications on time and manage the submission process.
Client Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their needs and provide ongoing support.
- Provide guidance and recommendations to clients on grant strategies and funding opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding the status of their grant applications.
Reporting and Compliance:
- Monitor grant performance and assist clients with meeting reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions.
- Assist clients with post-award grant management, including budget tracking and reporting.
Capacity Building:
- Offer training and workshops to clients on grant writing, grant management, and other relevant topics.
- Develop tools and resources to help clients build their grant-seeking capacity.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.
Experience:
- Proven 5 years or more of experience in grant writing and successful track record of securing funding.
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations or educational institutions.
- Familiarity with grant databases and research tools.
Skills:
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting related to grants.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software.
