Facilities Associate

SUMMARY

Works with Facilities staff maintaining structures, infrastructure, equipment, roads, trails, waterways, and irrigation system. Will perform housekeeping tasks two days a week. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Maintains, repairs, and constructs trails under the Trails Specialist and or Facilities Manager’s direction.
2. Assists with general building and infrastructure tasks while maintaining safety procedures.
3. Performs assigned housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and orderly environment within the Reserve’s publicly accessible areas and staff workspace, in collaboration with the Housekeeper.
4. Performs event set up and breakdown, and staffs events as needed.
5. Operates Reserve vehicles and power equipment.
6. Assists with irrigation system operation, installation, maintenance, and repair.
7. Coordinates, collaborates, and effectively communicates between cross functional teams of Bloedel Staff, and in particular Horticulture & Design and Facilities shared goals.
8. Participates in planning and work related to improving existing systems and trails and developing new systems and trails.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

1. Equipment maintenance and house cleaning experience is a plus.
2. Must hold current credentials as a Certified Public Water System Operator or obtain the equivalent within one year.
3. Must have excellent time management and problem-solving skills, be able to work independently, and take initiative when appropriate.
4. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and emails. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations.
5. Basic computer skills
6. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with volunteers, staff, board members, guests, participants, and contributors.
7. Must pass background check.
8. Must comply with and maintain a smoke-free and drug-free work environment.
