Ensure success of assigned projects including grants by adhering to timelines and effectively communicating ideas for increased performance of the project, or barriers that are slowing down project completion
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
Promote company safety culture through coaching, development and influence
Assist in the development and maintenance of site-specific documentation and templates that include Emergency Action Plans (EAP), Safety Indicators workforce safety & health incident reporting, job hazard analysis (JHA), ergonomic evaluations, and work site induction
Participate in development and update of governing documents such as the Emergency Operations Plan
Participate in safety related discussions at meetings such as Safety Committee Meetings, Staff Meetings, Leadership Meetings, etc.
Deliver training on safety initiatives, work site induction, work procedures, work instructions, safety management systems (SMS), and regulatory requirements
Inspect work areas to verify consistency with procedural, client, and regulatory requirements and expectations
Coordinate and assist Bloodworks leadership and Occupational Safety & Health Program Manager with incident investigations to determine root cause and recommend appropriate remedies
Develop incident reports to support findings from incident
Conduct ergonomic assessments as needed, providing recommendations to remedy and eliminate repetitive stress and other ergonomically-induced workforce hazards
Drive implementation of proposed remedies and monitor their effectiveness in improving the workplace safety environment
Maintain incident data and safety metrics for compilation and distribution to stakeholders
Collaborate with Safety Committees, Materials Management, Facilities & Engineering and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate and effective procurement, distribution, and maintenance of safety-related tools and equipment (AED, Eye Wash Station, Fire Extinguishers, First Aid Kits, etc.) across the organization
Comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as written
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
In addition, 3 or more years of occupational safety & health oversight support experience.
Healthcare or research environment experience (preferred)
Experience managing Safety Indicators or other electronic EHS system (desirable)
Experience working with volunteers (desirable)
Current First Aid / CPR / AED CPR Certification (desirable)
Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician certification (desirable)
OSHA 30 certified (desirable)
SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS include, but are not limited to:
Functional knowledge of applicable safety-related oversight agency regulations. These include but are not limited to American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA), Washington Industrial Safety and Health (WISHA), Oregon OSHA, Washington Department of Ecology, Department of Transportation (DOT)
Needs assessment, training design, and presentation experience.
Experience building strong rapport and credibility with constituents as a forward-looking thought leader
Experience working with, coaching, and influencing individuals of all levels of authority
Demonstrated customer service orientation.
Demonstrated discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally, as to communicate with employees, members of the leadership team, and in group presentations and meetings

To obtain access to some client facilities, incumbent may be required to apply for and obtain clearance to access the client property. This clearance process may require incumbent to undergo additional levels of screening beyond Bloodworks’ standard pre-employment screening
Ability to comply with Bloodworks’ Mandatory Vaccinations policy
Required mental activities involve continuous use of decision making, teamwork, creativity, customer service, discretion, problem analysis, interpersonal skills, mentoring, negotiations, reading, writing, speaking and comprehension of English. Mental activities used frequently include performing math, presentations.
Required physical activities include frequent standing, walking, talking, reaching, feeling, hearing, handling and repetitive motions of hands/wrists. Required physical activities used less frequently include stooping, sitting, bending, and repetitive motions of feet (all used occasionally); and kneeling, crawling, and climbing (all used rarely).
The ability to push, pull and lift an average of 5-10 pounds throughout the day is required, as is the ability to carry an average of 5-10 pounds throughout the day.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The incumbent in this position will be based as a virtual worker / telecommuter. However, work onsite at a Bloodworks locations and offsite events will be a frequent requirement of this role, with the frequency of onsite work dependent upon the nature of the work being performed, as well as other factors.
Job conditions to be expected include extensive, close work with computer screens.
Position requires regular travel to Bloodworks sites, occasional extended hours and meetings outside of weekday daytime working hours, and participation in the Administrator On Call program (week-long rotations of 24/7 on-call for coordination of emergent situations, shared with members of the Executive Team).
Incumbent will work with and provide supervision to volunteers.
As this is an essential position with direct responsibility to workforce members, incumbent should be prepared to work extended and/or consecutive shifts and/or possibly at a different location during periods of inclement weather or other emergencies.
This position has indirect exposure to blood borne pathogens.
