Bloom Academy Charter School exists to provide a high quality, rigorous, and joyful educational experience to students in grades kindergarten to fifth grade. We are a new and independent school seeking to add deeply mission aligned, smart, hardworking, and emotionally intelligent people to our founding staff. We opened August 2019 with a cohort of kindergarten and first graders, and will educate scholars in grades K-5 the 24-25 school year.
The Founding Director of Operations
Driven by our mission to ensure every child succeeds, the Director of Operations will be responsible for establishing and enhancing protocols, procedures, and logistical plans to promote the smooth and effective operation of Bloom Academy. The Director of Operations will also be responsible for other important duties related to compliance, reporting, campus and district growth, and business operations. The Director of Operations position is CRITICAL to the success of our school. The Director of Operations will have the following key responsibilities:
- Work with the Superintendent, Chief of Staff, and Head of School, to create procedures and routines that drive toward the school’s mission of producing outstanding student outcomes;
- Administer basic first-aid, distribute medication, and maintain student injury reports;
- Manage day-to-day operations of school based technology projects by ensuring that school leaders, students and staff have access to the technology they need;
- Oversee the food service management company to ensure the meal program meets TDA requirements;
- Manage the relationship with the on campus before and after school care provider;
- Ensures teachers & leaders have the resources and instructional supplies they need to be successful;
- Create systems for curriculum and instructional supplies inventory to ensure teachers have the things they need to be successful;
- Ensure the overall operation, beautification, safety and compliance of the school facility.
- Works with the janitorial vendor to build and manage building wide systems;
- Plans and implements long term projects for upkeep and beautification;
- Oversees and supports custodians and campus security with any after hours emergencies or urgent facilities needs;
- Procure and manage all vendors needed for the smooth and successful operation of the facility including contractors, service providers and maintenance workers;
- Creates and updates security plan for school and related materials annually;
- Leads the Incident Command System in the event of an emergency;
- Creates systems and trains/invests staff to ensure accurate attendance entry;
- Support systems information coordinator and leadership team to create attendance incentive plans;
- Works with Director of Social Emotional Learning to create plan to address chronic absenteeism that leverages other school stakeholders (leadership team, SEL Team, teachers, etc);
- Ensure Bloom Academy complies with all Texas Education Agency policies and mandates;
- Ensure strict confidentiality of personal student information and data in accordance with the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) as well as other relevant state laws;
- Develop and oversee a protocol and plan for rental space on campus (gym);
- Create and lead school wide professional learning sessions on protocols and procedures;
- Oversee the management of the school’s social media presence and campaigns;
- Create and execute a system for inventory of technology and for technology maintenance and troubleshooting;
- Setting, communicating, and supporting staff on a high standard of expectations for classroom and building appearance;
- Managing the school’s calendar and making regular updates to the school calendar;
- Overseeing and interfacing with all vendors and service providers (including food services, technology, copiers, facilities, and janitorial services) including managing all RFPs, purchase orders, checks, and other related items;
- Creating purchase orders, tracking shipments, and following-up on administrative needs with vendors, including ordering, receipt and maintenance of supplies;
- Ensuring student safety through the creation and practice of emergency plans.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred
- A staunch belief that all students regardless of race or socio-economic status can achieve at high levels and be positive contributors to their communities required
- Experience working on a school-based operations team and or experience working in community development preferred
- Experience as a teacher in a high needs/and or urban setting preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required
- Experience with business operations and finance including knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with all school stakeholders
- A demonstrated record of operating at a high level in a fast paced and demanding school setting
- Knowledge of office equipment and services including computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, phones, and software
- Open and receptive to feedback about performance and self-reflective about ways to improve
- A desire to develop, grow, and evolve professionally
