Summary
The Purchasing Assistant helps with the procurement of all materials and supplies necessary for manufacturing operations, follows purchasing practices and procedures and handles delivery for materials.
Essential Functions
· Assist with procurement of all materials needed for upcoming and current production.
· Assist with daily counts of materials, equipment, merchandise, or supplies in stock.
· Compares actual inventories to records; computes figures from records such as sales orders, production records, or purchase invoices to determine current inventory.
· Assist with quarterly inventory physical counts.
· Verifies computations against physical counts of stock and adjusts errors in computation or count. Investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies to Purchasing Agent, Randy or Jake, and Accounting.
· Assist with inventory balance reports and shortage reports.
· Makes list of depleted items.
· Recommends major purchases of materials based on anticipated changes in pricing or unusual availability situations.
· Assure purchasing documents are properly completed and terms and conditions are appropriate and in line with company policies.
· Negotiate with carriers on arrival and shipping dates of materials and schedule movement of materials within the plant.
· Monitor loss and damage claims.
· Check freight bills and rates on shipments for cost effectiveness and discrepancies.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
