Bloomfield is a Carnegie Mellon spinout creating a global platform shaping the future of precision agriculture. We scan farms and vineyards at scale (capturing high resolution imagery and other sensor data), analyze every plant, and derive actionable intelligence to help growers be more efficient and productive. We collaborate with a variety of movement platform companies, from ATV and tractor manufacturers to robotics startups.
About the Role
Bloomfield seeks outstanding students for our internship and co-ops. We view internships as great opportunities for us to learn about potential full-time hires while also contributing to students’ education and their understanding of work practices in a start-up environment. You'll contribute to the user-centered design of new software and instruments, working with Bloomfield customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional team members throughout the process
This is a paid, full-time, on site internship (located at our Lawrenceville, PA office) starting in June and ending in August, 2023.
Responsibilities:
- Persona development, mental model and task flow analysis as needed
- Create new UI designs from early concepts through wireframes and interactive UI prototypes
- Designs must fulfill a given UI Standard, usability and other requirements, and constraints
- Plan and conduct concept reviews, task walkthroughs and other evaluations for iterative design process
- Plan and conduct usability tests, and provide reports with actionable recommendations
- UX deliverables defined by UX Architect as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree candidate in Human Factors or Usability Engineering, Human Computer Interaction or related field.
- Persona development, mental model and task flow analysis skills
- Aptitude for technical domains and information architecture, to design UX for inherently complex products
- Create new UI designs from early concepts through wireframes and interactive UI prototypes
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment of agile software development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team members
- You must have completed your first year in an accredited college/university and be currently enrolled as of September 2023
Nice to Have Experience:
- Master's degree candidate in Human Factors or Usability Engineering, Human Computer Interaction or related field.
- Proficient with UI design wireframe and prototyping tools – such as Sketch, Zeplin, Axure, Figma or others
- Plan and conduct usability evaluations and tests, and provide reports with actionable recommendations
