Summary: 
Directs and leads all aspects of Trade Spend Tracking, Reporting and Systems. Specific accountabilities include managing a team that drives the efficient implementation and accurate planning and auditing of trade spending budget. Drives the trade spend process by tracking, reporting, auditing, and analyzing including setting policies and procedures that manage the efficiency and equity in Blount’s trade spend process to meet Blount goals. This new role will report to the Sr. Director of Customer Marketing in all phases of internal and external initiatives.  

Essential Duties: 

Evolves and Develops Trade Spending, Processing and Reporting function:  
  • Leads the development, implementation, documentation and analyzation of retail and foodservice trade fund submissions, approvals, forecasting, tracking, auditing and reconciliation.
  • Directs trade spending policies and procedures, deduction resolution, processing and documentation. Supports team in enforcing policies and procedures while managing the trade process including approvals and denials of submitted trade spend deductions, promotional allowances, chargebacks, bill-backs, rebates, scan data, and deviated pricing.
  • Directs and empowers the team of trade managers and specialists through up to date tracking, deduction processing and implementing the use of planned new systems and updated or new tools as needed.
  • Leads report creation and accuracy for retailers, brokers, sales region, and corporate needs.
 
Develops and implements trade management process and system: 
  • Oversees trade management system including vetting, auditing, analyzing, implementing, and updating.
  • Aligns trade support and processing to integrate process, guidelines and systems.
  • Maps and tightens spend processes and builds effective tracking and reporting.
  • Leverages and assists trade approval and reporting processes.
  • Directs planning calendar verification and auditing.
 
 
Financial Reporting/Budgeting/P&L: 
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of brand/customer P&Ls and determines implications of trade spend strategy and requests on account and product profitability and enforces goals/strategic direction as necessary.
  • Provides reconciliation of trade expenses in P&L and balance sheets monthly by customer.
  • Oversees and ultimately guides and resolves all audit inquiries related to trade spend.
  • Actively leads and participates in month/year end close process including ensuring accuracy of posted and audited trade spend.
 
Requirements: 
  • 7 years in Trade Marketing, Finance/Accounting or Data Analytics, including 3 years with exposure to the Food and/or Beverage CPG Trade Marketing functions preferred.
  • Knowledge of trade strategies within US Food and Beverage CPG – working and non-working trade, slotting, billing and retailer specific execution requirements
  • Exceptional attention to detail with ability to scrutinize and reconcile large amounts of data and reporting. Ability to conduct and translate complex analysis into concise, actionable recommendations.
  • Effective communicator who is comfortable presenting to a variety of audiences and stakeholders at various levels, particularly the Sales and Marketing teams
  • Focused leader and team player with proven ability to lead, influence and align within fast-paced direct reporting team and diverse cross-functional teams
  • Strong and adaptable project manager with a strong ability to establish processes and drive project execution with minimal guidance amidst multiple priorities and goals
  • The ability to effectively balance the desire/need for broad change with an understanding of how much change the organization is capable of handling, to create realistic goals and implementation plans that are achievable and successful.
  • Understanding of processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to juggle various work activities and shift their attention from one task to another to meet the demands of different stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy, team-oriented environment and have a “roll up your sleeves” and “today not tomorrow” mentality.
