The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the maintenance department within an organization. This role involves coordinating and managing maintenance activities to ensure efficient operation of machinery, equipment, and facilities. The Maintenance Manager leads a team of maintenance technicians, develops maintenance schedules, implements preventive maintenance programs, and ensures compliance with safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians.
  • Assign tasks and projects to team members based on skills and workload.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment within the maintenance department.

Maintenance Planning and Scheduling:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all equipment and facilities.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime and disruptions to operations.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks based on urgency and impact on production.

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment breakdowns and prolong lifespan.
  • Schedule regular inspections and maintenance activities according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to prevent future issues.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions.
  • Coordinate repair activities, including ordering parts and scheduling external service providers when necessary.
  • Ensure timely completion of repairs to minimize production delays.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Conduct safety training for maintenance staff and promote a safety-conscious culture.
  • Maintain documentation related to safety inspections, incident reports, and equipment certifications.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the maintenance department budget, including expenses for labor, materials, and outside services.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to optimize maintenance expenditures.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes and efficiency.
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, anticipate issues, and implement proactive solutions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to implement best practices and drive overall operational excellence.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in maintenance management or a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles and techniques.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skill.
  • Work Environment and Physical Demand:

  • Requires heavy physical effort. Occasionally lifts or moves light objects (under 50 lbs.).
  • Walks, sits, or stands for prolonged periods.
  • Requires prolonged machine operation including computer and keyboard equipment.
