Pay: $67,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) is urgently hiring entry, mid, and senior level MedCost Analysts to provide ideation and analytical support for medical cost improvements in collaboration with key clinical, provider, strategy, finance, and actuarial business partners. They include: Remote, in-office, and hybrid work options within the state of Arizona Eleven (11) paid holidays, including a floating holiday you can use any time you wish Accrued paid time off (up to 16 days per calendar year) Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) up to 5% dollar-per-dollar match, 2% non-elective employer contribution Up to 12% annual bonus based on corporate goals and individual performance Eight (8) paid volunteer hours to support our mission of inspiring health Tuition reimbursement for you; scholarship opportunities for your children Employee discounts, gym reimbursement, and wellness programs Treadmill desks, full-service fitness center, onsite cafeterias Ongoing training for employees who wish to grow in their careers, acquire skills, and become managers To thrive in this job, you must be able to: Provide accurate, timely, and reliable delivery of data, metrics, reporting, and analysis in support of multiple strategic goals, mandates, and legislation Develop and analyze business performance reports for claims data, healthcare provider data, and utilization data and provide notations of performance deviations and anomalies Perform ad hoc and drill-down analyses on product trends as well as draw insights and identify areas of opportunity for medical cost savings Utilize SAS to query multiple data warehouses, develop processes, write/revise programs, and create databases Model financial impact analyses for a variety of business initiatives Partner with peers to establish, evaluate, and continually improve measurement methodologies, while adhering to nationally accepted analytic and reporting standards Act as liaison to both internal business partners and external providers or vendors Create, modify, maintain, and enhance existing programming or business processes associated with specific responsibilities Interpret, communicate, and present results to all levels of management in consistent and easily understood formats to facilitate fact-based decision making Prepare written documentation on projects to provide a peer review trail and ensure continuity and integrity Build and maintain close working relationships with internal stakeholders and key external client contacts (e.g. Providers, Internal Clinicians, Vendors, Customers, Brokers, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Blues Plans, Auditors). We are looking for someone with: Broad understanding of health insurance terms and concepts Analytical knowledge to generate analytic solutions Ability to solve problems independently and draw accurate conclusions from data using basic analytic techniques Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, sometimes under limited time constraints Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy Ability to distill and communicate financial levers and impacts to non-technical audiences Willingness to build and maintain productive working relationships Qualifications At least 1 year of experience in data analysis using analytical tools and processes Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, business, or related field of study Intermediate PC proficiency, including database, presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing Intermediate proficiency in computer programming, including SAS and other business intelligence programs Intermediate understanding of data management principles Why Join Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona?
