Raw & Finished Goods Operator - Entry

Job Summary: Under general supervision, learns and develops the basic skills enabling the ordering, receiving, and storing of raw materials for use during production. Supplies the ready-to-eat area with the correct product at the right speed to enable the team to meet schedule attainment. Possesses skills to operate assigned machine centers successfully. Job Description: Learns how to safely operates plant equipment and to monitors all Key Process Measures (KPM’s) to ensure equal distribution to feed belts for maximum flow rates. Meets all required quality attributes while meeting schedule targets as required by the production schedule. Participates in setting-up monitors and makes operational adjustments to production equipment such as case formers, receiving, bar-coding, scales, packaging, and palletizing equipment to ensure that quality and production scorecard targets are met. Coordinates flow of meats from packaging bins to carton fill scales by proper count per ounce selection and monitors product packaging and labeling requirements. Supports the continuous workflow during the shift and uses a variety of machinery (forklifts, scales, bar-coders, label makers, packaging machines, palletizers, and case formers). Engages in sampling, weighing, scanning, and labeling incoming product as to variety/quality, ensuring no mixing of varieties/quality. Coordinates product flow to correct storage locations logging details onto warehouse logs and bin logs. Prepares log of daily deliveries received. Participates in the product receiving process by maintaining a delivery schedule to ensure optimum raw and FG inventory. Loads trailers for Sac. from overhead bins or warehouse. Completes daily usage report or enters usage into the Bar Code System. Completes pre-shift daily inspection checklist for an assigned lift truck. Operates forklift, moving product from one location to another. Supports preventative maintenance activities. Records fill weight, tare weight, PCD, HACCP, and equipment status. Performs various product sampling tests and enters data into the computer. Performs Cycle Count of both product and packaging on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis using various methods to maintain a high-level of inventory accuracy. Recognizes and corrects routine inventory problems with a high degree of independence. Operates a forklift and /or transporter and must be BD Certified and Licensed to operate either equipment. Must understand Blue Diamond line certification, HACCP process and auditing, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), and Safety Practices. Perform general housekeeping and various sanitation functions. Actively participates on various Committees and Teams to improve overall operations effectiveness and contributes to a team environment leading to production improvements. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum level of education required High School Diploma or GED Minimum number of year(s) of experience required in addition to education plus type(s) of functional experience 1 year of manufacturing experience. Other required type(s) of functional experience (e.g. Production/Operations, Accounting, Forklift Operator, Inventory Control, etc.) Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work schedules, and performance graphs. Total minimum number of years of experience required in lieu of degree (if applicable) N/A Other job requirements (e.g. certifications/licenses, CPG experience, work overtime/weekends, etc.) Required to become a BDG certified lift truck driver. Must be able to work overtime as necessary. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES (Specialized education, specific software experience, etc.) Experience communicating with all levels of an organization Must be able to work under limited supervision. Must regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment. Ability to efficiently operate equipment via Operator Interface Terminal.
