Analyst

Blue Garnet
Los Angeles, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 3/20/2024

As someone in the early stages of their career, you’re looking for a few things:

  • the opportunity to make a lasting impact on your company and the world,
  • the promise of continual learning and growth,
  • the ability to work closely with talented, caring and values-driven teammates, and
  • the versatility to be your whole person, and have fun while you’re at it.

We’re Blue Garnet, a social impact consulting firm, offering expertise in what it takes to boldly envision and effectively deliver lasting social impact sustainably. Proudly a women-founded and minority-owned Certified B Corp, we are offering you the opportunity to do it all.

For over 20 years (and counting), we have helped organizations in California’s social change ecosystem tackle their toughest issues of strategy, performance, and results. We blend rigorous analytical insight with a passion for lasting social change, grounded in real-world sensibilities and a social justice lens. As a result, our work is not incremental. It’s transformational.

From the start, we consciously chose and continue to choose a different way of running a consulting firm. We are proudly a “small giant,” meaning we intentionally prioritize purpose and people over maximizing profit. This frees us to focus on the conditions needed to grow impact, not necessarily grow budget. By doing so, our emphasis on forming deep, meaningful relationships makes us better partners to our clients, and stronger collaborators with our teammates.

Today, we are looking for a new Analyst to join this special team, and we’re hoping that’s you.

Analyst

As our new Analyst, your main goal will be to develop a clear understanding of our work as consultants and to provide sound data, research, and analytical support that inform our projects and decision-making. We want someone who is a critical thinker, a data geek, and has an aptitude for seeing the big picture and how the pieces fit together. You can sift through reams of information to find patterns and insights and have great intuitive business sense that allows you to understand what is relevant to your analysis and what is not.

You desire to make meaning out of data and to generate insights that lead to decisions. In fact, you share the belief that leaders and their teams can only solve complex social problems by developing two sides of the same impact coin: strategy formation assessment for learning. As a result, like us, you see both sides are inextricably linked.

You are also an exceptionally strong communicator and collaborator, with the ability to tell the story effectively and concisely around your findings to teammates and clients alike. You have a strong customer-service orientation, and love helping the people you support understand your findings.

You should also be the type of person who truly loves learning – someone who constantly seeks growth and development, but also loves learning about our clients, the challenges they face, and how you can help them solve those challenges. And, you love and want to impact Southern California as much as we do.

Practically speaking, you will:

  • Shadow senior members of our team in client meetings to learn about managing a firm and the consulting industry, while supporting planning, communications, and follow-through actions
  • Analyze the content from our client design/strategy sessions, and help drive insight and discussion, delineating “what was said” from “what it means” for our clients and our engagement
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including data analysis, insight generation and visualization of data (graphs, presentations, reports, etc.), and help present findings to our clients and internal team
  • Help maintain our client relationship management database and other business operations
  • Assist with planning and development of our marketing and communications content and collateral
  • Feed your soul! You will be a meaningful part of the social impact sector in our community, doing relevant, impactful work

Who We’re Looking For

Specifically, we need someone with the following skills:

  • Strong ability to collect, organize, and synthesize data into insights; presumes facility with Excel, pivot tables, data visualization; experience with surveys and Power Query a plus
  • Extremely detail-oriented with a strong penchant for keeping things organized
  • Strong problem-solving instinct and skills; capable of and enjoys learning and research
  • Spirit of goal-oriented collaboration, with ability to make sound judgements and work independently
  • Ability to communicate complexity in a simple, concise way
  • Ability to manage time well across multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong command of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word; experience with marketing platforms/tools and Google Suite
  • Entrepreneurial, resourceful and proactive
  • Relevant work experience, Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (or expected graduation Spring 2024), and demonstrated analytical track record (coursework, professional experience, etc.)
