We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Bartender to join the Blue Jay Bistro team! The
Bartenders are responsible for providing exceptional knowledge of food & beverage menu items as well as information regarding preparation methods. They are experts in mixology, have above average wine and beer knowledge, and create an uncompromising lounge/bar experience for our guest.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The Bartender is responsible for the operations of the bar area. Before service, the Bartender’s activity is centered around preparation for service. Activities include, but are not limited to juicing / cutting fruits, making batches of drink mixes, obtaining the correct mise-en-place for serving guests i.e. flatware and restocking of glassware. During service, the Bartender interacts with guests on an intimate level to provide them with exceptional dining experience by accurately taking orders and relaying the order through our POS to the kitchen. Additional responsibility includes making drinks for guests throughout the restaurant spaces. At the conclusion of service, the Bartender breaks down and cleans all bar areas. During and after service the Bartender is required to maintain and ensure that the bar area is exceptionally clean. Being the gatekeeper of alcohol inventory and being accountable for maintaining liquor cost levels is an essential function of the bartender.
The Ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of restaurant bar experience in and an above average wine, beer, and mixology knowledge. Has open availability in the afternoon/evening Wednesday - Saturday. Enjoys supporting the management team ensuring service quality, has a passion for food & beverage exploration and a genuine desire to impress their guests. Always conducts a responsible alcohol service for the best experience of the lounge/bar patrons.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Positive Professional demeanor, commitment and willingness to serve.
- Ability to work in a high pace / physically demanding environment, able to multitask and perform under pressure.
- Above average wine, liquor, beer, and cocktail preparation knowledge.
- Practices Responsible Alcohol Service and abides local service laws.
- Ability to responsibly and accurately process cash, credit card transactions, and manage computer POS systems.
- Requires reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
- Effective communication and active listening skills for conversing with guests.
- Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and responsiveness.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time, and able to bend, stretch, and carry items that may weigh over 20 pounds.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Capable of following all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage.
