General Summary
Supervises and coordinates activities of installation & repair technicians and combination technicians to ensure appropriate installation, repair, maintenance, and testing of communications equipment. Prepares service order schedules and work assignments to ensure prompt response to customer trouble reports.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervises activities of installation & repair technicians and combination technicians to ensure appropriate installation, repair, maintenance and testing of communications equipment.
- Reviews employee timesheets, checks quality of work, answers questions and handles personnel issues.
- Prepares service order schedules and work assignments to ensure prompt response to customer trouble reports. Monitors service order activity and modifies schedules based upon workload demands.
- Ensures technicians are adequately trained. Reviews employee skill sets and identifies training needs.
- Maintains related records and prepares various reports as needed.
- May be responsible for department inventory levels.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned by management. *
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of telephone installation and repair.
- Knowledge of telecommunications plant equipment operations and maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic electronics, specifications sheets and circuit diagrams.
- Knowledge of local exchange distribution network facilities.
- Knowledge of RUS practices and standards.
- Knowledge of company products and services.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Skill in operating service equipment including two-way radio, various hand tools and testing equipment.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as maps, staking sheets, and operating and maintenance instruction manuals.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to evaluate, test and repair sophisticated equipment.
- Ability to improve or redesign procedures for specific installation/repair problems.
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions using information at hand.
- Ability to create a team environment and sustain employee morale.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five years of installation and repair experience.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Seeing: Must be able to read computer screen and various reports.
- Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with employees and industry contacts.
- Standing/Walking: Must be able to move about work site.
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to stoop, kneel and crawl to perform installations.
- Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Must be able to lift at least 40bs.
- Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to write, type, and use phone system.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
