What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer - Additive Manufacturing and Dimensional Inspection position at Blue Origin?

In this role, you will establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in all production environments. As needed, measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organization quality goals, integrate quality system applications between engineering, manufacturing, and operations to ensure the consistent and ongoing use of quality best practices and communication of quality issues, and facilitate troubleshooting of quality issues with diverse teams, lead causal analysis activities to drive to root cause and corrective action.
In addition, you will perform reviews and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records. You will perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100, recommend initiatives and/or changes that will improve product and system quality, and provide quality assurance subject matter expertise to inspection, manufacturing and test. Periodically, you will interface with internal and external customers on quality related concerns and develop training materials to build quality awareness.
In this role you will report directly to the Quality Engineering Manager in Kent, WA. As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, you will share in the team's impact on all aspects of developing, testing and launching Space systems to support Blue Origin's Vision. Qualifications:
* Minimum of a B.S. in engineering or science.
* Experience in the engineering field with at least 3 to 5 years in a quality engineer role. Proven experience and successful track record delivering fully integrated, highly engineered products to completion in relevant industries (Aerospace, Marine, Automotive, Medical, Manufacturing, etc.)
* Quality assurance experience in production environment.
* Aerospace, space launch, or military or commercial aviation preferred.
* Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs.
* Experience in GD&T fundamentals.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Knowledge of precision hand tools, gauges, optical comparator, and surface plate work.
* You will be supporting machinists in maintaining continuous operation of a variety of CNC machines and equipment producing accurate components enabling first article success on tight tolerance, high value parts
* Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates. • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
* Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired
* Experience creating inspection plans for product received from Suppliers. • Experience with Supplier Quality Documentation.
* Intermediate experience in providing oversight of receiving or dimensional inspection of aerospace components.
* Intermediate to advanced application of inspection concepts and tools
* Advanced blue print reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
* Quality Management System audit experience.
* Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities.
* Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification.
