Your Role
The Medi-Cal Appeals and Grievances team a candidate must be dependable; come to work when scheduled and be ready to work. Take the initiative to inform leadership when you have availability to assist others, your own team, and other teams. Provide constructive feedback when the opportunity presents. Notify leadership when errors and/or systemic issues are identified. Act as a resource; utilize knowledge and skills in ways that benefit the team (i.e., training, coaching, etc.) Identify and share opportunities for process efficiencies. The clerical support intermediate will report to Melissa Roberts. In this role you will Activate and scan incoming correspondence accurately by utilizing department date/timestamp. Distribute all incoming mail accordingly to appropriate departments with no impact to compliance. Monitor department voicemail box to ensure messages are communicated timely. Check all outgoing mail to ensure no PHI is displayed through the window envelopes and make necessary adjustments as needed. Provide proof of mail for every letter mailed to Blue Shield Promise members. Provide feedback to leadership as well Ensure PHI is not left out within all fax, printers, and open areas within the department at the end of the day .
Requires travel into office 3x a week into our Monterey Park, CA location and in a few months the location would be transferred to Long Beach, CA
Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Requires travel into office 3x a week into our Monterey Park, CA location and in a few months the location would be transferred to Long Beach, CA
- Batch, track, compile and distribute mail, proofread and assemble documents in addition to general office support such as faxing, filing, and copying
- Answer and direct phone calls
- Handle inquiries and incoming work requests
- Update and maintain databases
- Monitor and order inventory of office supplies
- Check all outgoing mail to ensure no PHI is displayed through the window envelopes and make necessary adjustments as needed; Provide feedback to leadership as well
- Monitor department voicemail box to ensure messages are communicated timely
- Ensure PHI is not left out within all fax, printers, and open areas within the department at the end of the day
- Distribute all incoming mail accordingly to appropriate departments with no impact to compliance
- Activate and scan incoming correspondence accurately by utilizing department date/timestamp and proving proof of mail for every letter mailed to a Blue Shield Promise member
QUALIFICATIONS
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Requires a high school diploma or GED
- Requires at least 3 years of prior relevant experience
Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is: $ 16.74 to $ 23.44 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
