We take the Scouts on hikes and tours around Colorado to show them our beautiful state and get them acclimated to the altitude. .

Summary:
We are the experts in Scout travel! We are seeking several personable, excited, and responsible tour guides to offer our guests an exceptional experience in Colorado. From the moment the group steps off the plane until they depart for Philmont Scout Ranch you will be the definitive expert on all things Colorado and each of the locations we visit. You will be in charge of getting our guests to and from all destinations in a timely and safe manner. In this role, you will be the face of the company for our guests.
Responsibilities:
- Manage itinerary based tour days throughout Colorado Springs, Denver, and Canon City
- Engage with your crew of Scouts, providing them with an exciting, enjoyable and informative experience
- Keep your tour operating smoothly and timely so that all planned activities are accomplished.
- Teach scouts about Colorado history, culture, geography, geology, etc. No need to already know all of this - we'll teach you the basics - but we want you to make it your own based on your personal passions and interests.
- Answer questions and help to solve in the moment issues as a summer in Colorado can always be unpredictable.
- Keep the group informed throughout the tour, especially for scheduled meeting times (wake up, meals, departures, etc.)
- Respect the Scout Oath and Law; Be courteous, enthusiastic, friendly, and helpful; Maintain the highest possible level of customer service and professionalism
- Be a representative of Scouts of America, the face of Blue Sky Adventures, and an authentic personality for the scouts to get to know
- Report to and communicate effectively with the Colorado Springs Business Manager
Details:
Training will start at the end of May or beginning of June and tours could start as early as June 6th and end as late as August 12th. Scheduling can be flexible around previously determined commitments but we ask that you commit to our team for the two months of summer. Potential optional team activities may begin at the end of May.
The tour guide team here becomes a family each summer and we want to keep that spirit alive. We work hard, play hard, and strive for an amazing experience for everyone involved.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to work as part of team and also work independently with minimal supervision
- Exceptional punctuality, reliability, and professionalism
- Strong conversational skills preferably with a knack for story telling
- Ability to learn and apply new skills and knowledge quickly and accurately
- Leadership and crowd management skills appropriate for working with small and large groups
- Background check required before final hire
- A love for the outdoors and the ability to share those passions – willing and able to hike, rock climb, raft at a basic level
- Good sense of humor and adaptability – it’s always an adventure!
- Ideal for teachers, university students, or any position with a break in the summer.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $150.00 - $200.00 per day
