Position Overview:
The Principle Architect is a visionary who can translate business requirements into highly scalable solutions platforms. Focusing on standardization, integration, performance and reliability, this position sets the direction of how Bluebird’s Network evolves into the future. The Principle Architect is an expert in IP/MPLS and ROADM Optical networking and has experience with network automation.
Primary Responsibilities:

Set and lead the technical direction for network architecture of Bluebird’ Network, including IP/MPLS, ROADM Optical
-
Make critical decisions that define a specific direction for a system in terms of implementation, operational performance, scalability, usability, fit for purpose, and maintenance.

Support the end of life and service migration of legacy TDM platforms into IP, Ethernet or optical services
-
Target and implement areas where network automation can reduce manual workload like remote turn up of NIDs, routine service configuration implementation, integration to Operational Support Systems

Assess network performance in terms of measured reliability and report results
-
Collaborate with Product Development organization in order to develop technical solutions for proposed products
-
Design network expansion and upgrade plans for new service markets, ensuring appropriate technical capabilities are in place for required service demands in the market

Monitor and manage IP traffic demand and capacity, performing data analysis to implement the best network design, developing planning projects to address capacity growth as needed

Monitor and manage Optical network capacity, performing data analysis to implement the best network design, developing planning projects to address capacity growth as needed

Integrate acquired networks into Bluebird Network target state architecture, targeting service continuity, performance metrics and scale

Work with Engineering and Operations personnel to achieve Planned projects on time

Interface with Vendors regarding evaluation, implementation, and support of deployed network gear

Assess market trends and emerging technologies, to ensure Bluebird Network stays current on technology and solutions
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES:
-
10 years of experience in Internet, Enterprise, Metro-Ethernet, or Access network architecture and engineering in large-scale carrier or service-provider networks

IP/MPLS familiarity
-
ROADM/DWDM familiarity
-
Nokia network experience and certifications (desired)
-
Adva network experience (desired)
-
Ekionps network experience (desired)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
-
Data analytics abilities – For forecasting traffic, routing changes, ingress/egress points

Knowledge of IP traffic flow, protocol analysis, capturing and monitoring of live traffic streams
-
Prior experiences in identifying potential design, performance, security, and support problems, including ability to identify technical risks/challenges and develop relevant mitigation strategies
-
IP Traffic management experience – Reporting and forecasting and in-depth knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and IPv4/IPv6 environments
-
Experience in design and implementation of DDOS scrubbing networks and the infrastructure required to support them
-
Ability to think and plan long term – Must have vision for long term evolution
-
Knowledge and understanding of network security best practices

Bridge technology and business – be able to understand and explain network concepts to non-technical people
-

Adaptability – Comfortable with the perpetual change of technology

Collaboration – Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts with strong presentation skills
