Position Summary:

This position’s title is Systems Technician and will report to the Manager of our Helpdesk Services. The PRIMARY responsibility of this position is to repair hardware in the field such as printers, multifunction copiers, plotters and 3d printers.

Important Notes:

  • Experience in this field is a plus but not necessary. We will train the right person.
  • This position requires a valid and clean driver’s license.
  • The assigned territory covers all of NYC including all boroughs. Travel to territories covered by other technicians is also required when help is needed. Northern NJ will demand the most help in these cases.

Responsibilities:

As a highly valued member of the BluEdge Systems Group, you’ll leverage your technical & troubleshooting skills with copiers, printers and plotters to isolate, diagnose & resolve issues at our BluEdge branch locations as well as our client’s sites. Training on specific hardware, software or procedures will be made available and given as required. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and upgrade printing equipment and associated hardware
  • Install, troubleshoot and upgrade associated software/drivers
  • Troubleshoot issues with print files
  • Conduct training sessions for end users as well as existing and new technicians. Responsibilities include:
    • Equipment/Software/Driver use
    • Basic equipment troubleshooting/maintenance
    • Printability/File Auditing
    • Help evaluate skill level and train/coach technicians where necessary
    • In-depth troubleshooting procedures for hardware/software
    • End User (Existing/New Onsite Staff)
    • Existing/New Technicians
  • Using basic network skills, connect and configure printing equipment for network access
  • Local and out of town travel will be necessary for service calls. Overnight stays may be necessary for out of town work. BluEdge is responsible for printing equipment at our branch and client locations in NYC, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, D.C., Carlstadt, NJ and Belleville, NJ. While the bulk of our work occurs in these cities, our clients may have locations outside of these areas. All travel expenses will be paid by BluEdge.
  • After-hours work is necessary and mandatory. Hours can include before or after your scheduled time as well as weekends. *While not a frequent occurrence, it does happen and you will be expected to participate. We will of course do our best to work with your personal schedule.
  • Communicate regularly with our Help Desk team to coordinate your work schedule.
  • Open, close and update service calls using our field-service ticketing system. The application is available using your desktop, laptop and mobile devices.
  • Must be willing and able to, physically, carry, lift and/or move equipment & components (up to 50lbs). Heavier equipment will be on dollies or casters.

Prerequisites:

  • Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing printing equipment and software is a plus but will train the right person.
  • Certifications for previous equipment training is a plus.
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills, highly effective under pressure and in demanding situations.
  • Be smart, take initiative and an out-of-the box thinker.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required (College background is a plus).
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.

Knowledge of some or all of the following equipment is considered a plus and not a requirement. Training will be made available to the right person

    • Epson
