PURPOSE OF POSITION:
As our Business Development Executive, you’ll have a comprehensive portfolio of logistics services, you will have the tools and resources you need to help your customers optimize their supply chain. You’ll proactively reach out to key stakeholders within your customers’ organizations, identify and sell innovative solutions and services to drive continuous improvement and help our customers work smarter. You’ll create and develop relationships with partners, customers and suppliers. You’ll solve challenging customer issues and provide an overall exceptional customer experience.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and grow relationships at multiple levels within a customer’s and supplier’s organizations
- Use effective negotiation and sales strategies during solution pricing and selling discussions with the customer
- Execute a consultative sales approach to innovative solutions to new and existing customers
- Liaise with other departments to develop an effective strategy for uncovering and progressing opportunities to create efficiencies, drive continuous improvement, and sell Bluegrass’ service offerings
- Understand industry market trends, competition, products, services and pricing that may have an impact on your customers
- Conduct consistent customer reviews to stay informed on business and industry changes
- Deliver a positive customer experience through proactive communication, leading sensitive conversations and providing timely responses
- Utilize CRM to organize, document, and track business development activities throughout the sales lifecycle
- Participate in networking events, conferences, roundtables and trade show events to promote Bluegrass Supply Chain and Bluegrass Dedicated and obtain business development leads
- Actively contribute new leads and opportunities to the sales pipeline through existing relationships, cold calling, superior networking and innovative prospecting
- Prepare formal responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) and Request for Proposals (RFPs)
- Maintain accurate and up to date information in CRM database regarding all sales contacts and accounts. Insure weekly reporting of all quotes, face to face contacts, revisions, wins and losses
- Collaborate and build trusting relationships with team members and Leadership
- Additional duties as assigned by Leadership
- Travel, as required, to meet with existing and prospective customers
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Must have at least five (5) years of experience in a consultative sales role within the 3PL industry
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (preferably in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related major)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong track record in closing sales, working accounts, and achieving sales goals
- Demonstrated success in identifying, qualifying, and closing new business
- Outstanding communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- Operations experience in one or more of the following environments: 3PL, retail, distribution center or manufacturing is a plus
- Negotiation skills

- Business Development: 5 years (Preferred)
- 3PL industry: 5 years (Preferred)
