Job Description
This role will lead HSE activities and coordinate HSE process improvements by analyzing work environments to design and implement programs to increase control effectiveness, prevent disease, injury, and/or environmental impacts. Responsibilities span across CA locations and may expand to other states as needed.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate HSE compliance activities with the designated site management teams to reduce risk for employees, contractors and visitors. Safety onboarding program for new hires.
- Conducts and coordinates site inspections/assessments to monitor compliance with applicable HSE requirements including operating permits, and the overall HSE plan, (14 BlueScope Standards, Codes of Practice Learning Teams/HOP, and HSE SOP’s). Track and respond to state reporting requirements. Stay abreast of federal and state OSHA compliance, implement requirements, educate manager and employees, and track compliance.
- Conduct and assist in investigations, Learning Teams, HSE Committee and Small Group Activities. Work with supervisors and employees to develop action plans, provide guidance and recommendations, and monitor the results of the plan.
- Manage Workers Compensation programs, claim management, employee and leader engagement, in conjunction Sr. Manager HSE and support from HR across CA locations. Support may expand to other states as needed.
- Develop and present HSE materials and training in coordination with HSE and Training Team. Track training completion and compliance requirements for designated locations.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements:
Minimum:-
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, Environmental or Health related topic. Candidates without a bachelor’s degree will be considered if demonstrated seven years’ experience in industrial HSE role.
- 3 years in industrial Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) role.
- Technical Knowledge in OSHA, EPA, DOT, SCAQMD, ANSI, NFPA (Preferred knowledge of California Regulations)
- Demonstrated knowledge of Workers Compensation Regulations
- Demonstrated success in improving health and safety principles including safety leadership and engagement.
Preferred:-
- CA Technical Knowledge in CalOSHA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, SCAQMD, ANSI, NFPA.

Pay Range: $77,211 - $115,817annually
