Job Description
The Health, Safety, Environment & ISO Quality Manager develops & implements HSE systems while providing expertise knowledge and advice on health, safety and environmental risks to site management and employees. The position ensures HSE compliance, & and effective controls for the wellbeing of employees and the company. The HSEQ Manager also drives the sites ISO program (ISO9001 and ISO14001) ensuring robust standards are administered and employee practices are in alignment with those standards.
The HSEQ Manager ensures 100% compliance with all governing internal and external programs including all outside regulating entities in addition to all inhouse corporate requirements.
- Ensure the Implementation of all HSE systems within site targeting risk minimization including: Safety Engagement Programs, HSE training, Investigations & Learning Teams, Safety Committees, Auditing and Inspections, Compliance and Communications along with Reporting.
- Procure and maintain all environmental permits and authorizations required for facility operations. Manage external Environmental compliance and all reporting. Coordinate environment day to day compliance systems and activities within facility management team to reduce environmental impact and liabilities.
- Provide Health, Safety and Environmental expertise to Plant Management for risk control targeting the 14 BlueScope HSE Standards along with the Codes of Practices
- Provide & Implement systems including procedural updates, document control, internal & external auditing, corrective actions and non-conformance tracking and all site communications as necessary for driving site’s ISO 14001 and ISO9001 systems.
- Responsible for interacting with all outside regulatory compliance personnel.
- Work in liaison with HR managing employees under the Workers Compensation program
- Direct and oversee assigned facilities PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) selection, distribution, use, care, maintenance
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or equivalent professional experience and/or education plus experience combination
- 3-5 years of experience in the HSE profession, preferably in heavy industrial environment
- Demonstrated experience in leading an effective HSE program
- Experience in influencing large groups of personnel
- Must be able to develop and deliver presentation to groups of personnel
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred:
- 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience
- CHMM, CSP, and CIH certifications
- CPR and First Aid certifications
- 24 Hour HAZWOPER certification

- Ability to mine accumulated data for trends and adjust HSE strategy accordingly
- Ability to maximize utilization of software applications to drive HSE improvement
- Subject matter expert in OSHA / EPA compliance and technical standards and how to research them
