BMI will be opening a second warehouse early 2023 in the U.S. market and is thus looking for a new Territory Sales Manager in the South, building on that new capacity to aggressively grow the business.
ROLE
Reporting to the Director of Sales, North America, the Southern USA Sales Manager will be based out of a home office and will travel within the territory, being responsible for growing the business in the region, not only by leveraging the established customer and agent base, but mostly by bringing in new customers and business opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Elaborate and implement growth, marketing and promotion strategies for the territory;
- Identify potential new customers and business opportunities;
- Establish strong business relationships with new and existing customers, at all locations throughout the territory, with all decision makers, which could include executives in regional purchasing or procurement functions as well as branch managers and operational level employees in the field;
- Proactively build and deepen relationship with BMI’s customer base by regularly visiting customers, maintaining appropriate call frequencies and call documentation;
- Establish and nurture excellent collaborative relationships with sales agents, supporting them in their efforts to promote BMI’s business;
- Establish, maintain and review competitive and profitable price structures with all customers;
- Assume responsibility for final pricing quotations based on complete available cost information;
- Monitor and report on market, product, customer trends and competitive activity;
- Develop launch strategies and execute the actual launch of new products;
- Jointly with accounting, manage the company’s credit exposure to individual accounts.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Minimum of 5 years of sales/territory management experience;
- Experience distributing commodity (or differentiated commodity) products to businesses;
- Track record of success growing a territory profitably in a hands-on fashion;
- Excellent negotiation, customer service and relationship management skills;
- Strong communication and presentation skills, personable nature, flexible and professional, equally effective working with senior executives and field level employees within the customer companies as well as sales agents;
- Entrepreneurial spirit, self-starter, passionate and driven, strong work ethic and a sense of urgency;
- Planning and analytical skills combined with good judgment and instinct;
- Basic computer skills such as knowledge of Excel are required;
- Experience working with sales agents is an asset.
