Job Summary: The Assistant Vice President, Operations reports to the Vice President, Operations leads and supports safety, security, compliance, leadership development, strategic planning and initiatives for the division, innovation, and continuous improvement in the safe and efficient operations at Nashville International Airport. Other responsibilities include leading the Customer Experience, Terminal Operations, and Landside Operations teams.
Essential Job Duties:
- Ensures MNAA has safe working conditions, procedures, training for staff to ensure compliance with OSHA and TOSHA requirements, and the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) system is current.
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the airport communications center.
- Oversees the operation of the Emergency Operations Center and Joint Information Center in the event of a crisis or emergency situation.
- Provides leadership and works with staff to create a high performance, service-oriented work environment that supports the Nashville airport experience.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Authority's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, coaching/mentoring staff, planning and directing work, appraising performance and resolving problems.
- Directs procurement activities including request for quotes (RFQ) and request for proposal (RFP) preparation, vendor selection, contract negotiation, scope of work definitions and ensures contract compliance.
- Plans activities with technical committees, regional committees, local business groups, civic groups, airport tenants, and international organizations.
- Briefs the Board of Commissioners on operations activities.
- Responds to emergency and crisis response situations at the Emergency Operations Center and is the primary point of contact for the Family Assistance Plan.
- Develops the annual operations budget, and ensures department stays within budget.
- Oversees coordination of internally and externally to maintain optimum airport operations and facility repair requirements and maintains parking facilities and operations.
- Develops, implements, and follows airport safety and security regulations.
- Directs daily airside and landside operations, including airfield activities such as construction, inspections, federal requirements, and other conditions which affect airfield operations to maintain compliance with FAA Part 139.
- Establishes processes for recognizing and reporting unsafe conditions and actions.
- Develops plans to mitigate landside and airside safety hazards or discrepancies.
- Develops business and continuity strategies for MNAA ground transportation operations.
- Assists in preparation of operating and capital improvement budgets that meet MNAA goals.
- Manages the development of specific portions of the airport rules, regulations, and safety programs.
- Follows all safety regulations.
- Maintains regular and on-time attendance.
- Supports MNAA’s commitment to its culture and values, including Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence (RISE).
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Master's Degree in Aviation, MBA, or another related field.
- More than 10 years of progressive aviation leadership.
- More than 10 years of demonstrated skills leading and developing complex teams, improving processes, and implementing strong strategic organization and initiative.
- 7-10 years of demonstrated experience developing teams and leaders through continuous improvement.
- 4-7 years of senior management experience.
- Certified Member (CM) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) (180 days after hire).
- Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) (1 1/2 years after hire).
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or Higher
