Salary Range : Pay rate from $32.96-$39.24 / hr with annual pay of $68,560 - $81,619 with 3 - 5 years seniority.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for inspecting, rebuildingand repairingfreight cars.
INSPECTING
Inspect railcar frames and bodies for holes, cracks, and other defects
Inspectsafety appliances including hand holds, sill steps, grab iron, brake platforms, running boards
Inspectwheels toensurethat rim treads, plates, hub axles, and bearings are in good repair
REBUILDING AND REPAIR
Maintain, replace and repair air brake pipes, valves, gaskets,air hoses and otherair relatedequipment
Operate electrical and gas welding equipment to joina variety of metals and alloys
Operate acetylene / MAPPtorches for cutting and / or shaping metal parts
EQUIPMENT OPERATION
Operate specialized off-highway motor vehicles including forklift trucks, mobile cranes, track mobilesand UTV's

Full-time (40hrs / wk)
Subject to senioritydistrictand governed by union agreement
Assigned shift may be one of three 8-hour shifts
Mechanical shops operate 24 hours / day, 7 days / week

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
At least18 years of age, or will be by the start date listed above
Ability to report for duty at the designated work location
Able to work safely in the above working conditions
Able toworkthe above shift / hours
Abilityto read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) English
Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbswithout assistance
Possess valid driver's license
Abilityto visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow, lunar (clear light)
Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) in the work environment
Ability to use hands and use hand tools to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling
Ability to climb ladders and get on / off equipment
Ability to occasionally work from various heights including making repairs on top of railcars
Ability tobend, walk,standandsit occasionally with breaks
Follow safety policies and procedures; wear the required personal protective equipment
TRAINING

Welding certification requirements will need to be obtained for the position
