We’re seeking a future team member in a newly created position as Director, Portfolio Management and Strategy to join our Chief Operating Officer team. This role is in New York, NY, or Lake Mary, FL - HYBRID.
In this role you will be a member of the Chief Operating Office, within Treasury Services, responsible for designing, implementing and directing the portfolio of initiatives to support the business agenda. This leadership role is critical to the business’ agenda of enabling Client Success through deploying a framework to support the lifecycle of a large initiatives, leading project-level reviews, optimizing standards, identifying areas for improvement, reporting analyses, and establishing an effective governance. The role serves as a member of the COO leadership team, collaborating with the Treasury Services Leadership, Technology and Partner teams to drive our investment and capacity opportunities.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Provide strategic thought leadership to establish a Portfolio office to effectively management initiatives from intake and demand management, through to benefits realization.
- Establish governance, reporting and communication services to ensure alignment across the organization.
- Build strong relationships with Treasury Services leadership to understand opportunities and support business cases, prioritization and execution oversight.
- Working collaboratively across the business and technology organizations to ensure project scope, financial forecasts, and resource deployment are optimal to deliver on the overall business strategy.
- Responsible for Business case management execution and adherence, aligned to drive in partnership with Engineering the Treasury Services capital plan.
- Develop/maintain and publishing portfolio level dashboard including trends and analytics impacting overall portfolio health.
- Generating an investment policy statement, outlining clients’ investment objectives
- Chairing the regular portfolio management investment committee
- Developing the investment reference portfolio and representing its risk positions in meetings with leadership
- Lead the communication and coordination of key deliverables both organizational and product changes.
- Help deploy an agile execution framework, with applicable tools and techniques.
- Deploy and manage OKR’s and KPI’s framework.
- Proactively partner with the program initiatives and project managers who are the primary contacts for clients and groups within the Treasury Services Function.
- Lead status meetings for major programs and projects, facilitates risk mitigation and manages the resolution of more complex issues. Ensure delivery is in conformance with company methodologies and standards to align towards our strategic Business outcomes.
- Ensure end to end program management activities such as program reporting, program planning, issue and risk identification and tracking, scope management, estimation, client management, relationship management and other program documentation preparation.
- Manage and develop strong teams to maximize their collective contributions. Motivate program and project managers to maximize their contributions and encourage professional growth. Have strong relationships with and is a leader among peers within the firm and externally. Partner with team to complete required headcount forecasting, KRI tracking, and 3rd party vendor processes.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Advanced degree, preferably in business management or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
- 10-12 years of related project management experience required, experience with technology and/or the financial services industry is a plus.
- Experience planning and managing a large program consisting of multiple business critical projects.
- Strong Program management experience including Agile requirements.
- Has assisted in resource allocation and financial analysis as part of the budget reporting. Capable of proactively identifying core problems or opportunities within business processes.
- Experience managing Data Governance Programs a plus.
- PMP Certified a plus.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $122,000 and $225,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
