Boarhog LLC has an immediate opening for a Test Director on a diverse team of technical, programmatic, and business professionals at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island (WI) Virginia. The team provides Test and Evaluation, operational, engineering, and cybersecurity readiness as the last stop for hardware, software, and Integrated Combat Systems testing prior to deployment. This is a new follow-on contract commencing January 8th of 2023 lasting until January 7th of 2028 with the incumbent contractor team, so there is plenty of experienced talent available to assist a new Test Director.
LOCATION:
SCSC is a NAVSEA Echelon III Field Activity with 92 military, 84 government civil service, and 267 contractors executing high-fidelity shipboard representative integrated warfare capabilities in a maritime environment, consisting of the AEGIS Engineering & Training Complex, the Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) facility, the Wallops Island Engineering Test Center, and the Wallops Island Radar Test Site as tenants of the NASA Wallops Flight Facility. Future SCSC capabilities include High Energy Laser with Integrated Optical-Dazzler and Surveillance Weapon System (HELIOS), next-generation radars, the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP), and a cooperative with NASA developing Unmanned Arial Vehicles and supporting Large Space Vehicle launches, as SCSC continues to evolve toward becoming the preferred asset for integration, test, and verification of combat systems across the five battlespace domains of space, surface, air, undersea, and cyberspace / electronic warfare.
EXPERIENCE::
All categories of experience may be accumulated concurrently. For example, if the candidate worked while going to school, the work and education time are credited concurrently.
- Four (4) years experience with AEGIS or SSDS combat system baseline configurations, including supporting elements and equipment, communications systems, and a good understanding of the interdependencies and interfaces associated with these systems.
- Two (2) years of experience setting up and configuring combat systems baselines to support AEGIS, SSDS, or BMD mission events.
- Two (2) years experience in loading and maintaining program/project documentation on Combat Systems including: loading computer programs and equipment using established procedures, verifying system operations, setup and collection of data recording/extraction, and documenting observed issues while operating combat system suites.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- An Associates Degree in a technical or computer-related discipline could substitute for two (2) years of experience.
- For other relevant degrees/education, appropriate education can be counted as experience at a rate of two (2) years of education equals one (1) year of experience for up to four (4) years of experience.
- SCSC technical positions (those not designated electrical or mechanical engineer positions requiring Professional Engineer certification) on this contract have been set up for cross-training, adopting a variation of the Navy's Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS) program, such that for example the Test Director is afforded opportunities to train and qualify as an Information Systems Tech, Project Analyst, Audio/Visual Tech, Radar Tech, Computer Network Tech, Communications Tech, Navigation Electronics Tech, Cisco Tech, and SSDS Mk2 Maintenance Tech. This is an excellent opportunity to advance technical credentials and value to the program, with a commensurate increase in compensation.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Eligible candidates must either currently have, or be eligible to obtain and sustain a DOD SECRET clearance. Boarhog's Facility Security Officer will immediately determine the cleared eligibility of successfully screened candidates as a prerequisite to a conditional offer of employment.
- Preference will be given to candidates who reside in, or will move into, a Small Business Administration (SBA) designated Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone), of which Wallops Island VA is one. See SBA website for HUBZone locations..
