Job Description:
Boart Longyear is looking to hire a new EHS&T Training Advisor. The EHS & Training Advisor partners with field staff, field supervisors, and management to implement training programs and initiatives for the safety, development and productivity of employees with primary focus for field staff.
This position may be based in Salt Lake City, UT.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline preferred or equivalent work experience
- At least 5 years of field-related experience in the Drilling Services industry, EHS, Training or HR.
- 5 years working knowledge of DOT and CDL operations.
- Valid driver’s license with safe driving history, expected to obtain a Class A CDL license with tanker endorsement
- Certified Crane Operator/Instructor a plus
- MSHA Certified instructor Surface and Underground (preferred)
- OSHA Certified instructor (OSHA 10 HR) (preferred)
- Classes related to EHS and regulatory laws and compliance.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in the use of computer (MS Office tools)
- Willingness to travel, as required, to work sites, including overnight stays.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of the Boart Longyear EHS Management System such that it will reflect the required training needed for other certificated requirements of the company.
- Training of employees in company values, safety policies and procedures
- Training of employees in DOT compliance
- Overseeing the BLY fleet safety program
- Helping users troubleshoot Vehicle Monitoring Systems
- Training of new employees for OSHA, MSHA, First Aid/CPR, DOT, defense driving, heavy truck driving, vehicle safety, crane operations, forklift operations, backhoe operations, safe drilling techniques and task training of all other equipment.
- Advance training of employees in safe drilling techniques to be a driller, operations all equipment, drilling fluids, well control (Blow Out Prevention), water well construction and water well development.
- Carry out formal risk assessments to identify and reduce overall EHS operational risk activities to an acceptable level through training.
- Partner with field staff to maintain the necessary documentation of training to comply with client, company, and government regulations.
- Assist with developing written programs of training to meet client, company, and government regulations.
- Responsible for shop, yard and other support facility training requirements.
- Interact with client training and safety representatives, as required, and promote Boart Longyear’s delivery of safe profitability and growth.
- Obtain needed certifications to perform necessary duties, and train others.
- Develop additional safety skills and credentials by attending selected courses and clinics.
- Assist in HR/EHS functions including, scheduling, evaluation of candidates, hiring and training.
