Compensation Analyst Internship

Summary:

The Compensation Analyst Intern will research job requirements and evaluate job positions to ensure the company is competitive in the areas of salaries and employee benefits.  They will also assist in a variety of compensation projects which will include:

  • Analyzing current compensation policy and wage progression scales. Researching and analyzing external compensation policies and preparing recommendations.
  • Support compensation reviews and recommendations related to new hires, merit increases, promotions and other increases. Benchmarking new and existing job descriptions against internal and external data and making salary recommendations.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares and maintains job descriptions for new and existing positions in the organization; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.

  • Interviews and surveys employees and managers to gather and document job, organizational, and occupational information including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by each job.
  • Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
  • Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position and ensure internal pay equity.
  • Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary scales.
  • Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information and handles administrative steps to formalize recommendations.
  • Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
  • Evaluates and implements job analysis instruments and materials.
  • Conducts data and cost analyses to be used in employee negotiations.
  • Follows applicable state and federal employment regulations, benefits and compensation policies, and human resource policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience analyzing complex and/or diverse information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized and the ability to prioritize with changing situations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, human resources or related field required.
  • Proven experience as an analyst or similar role working on complex analytical projects required.
  • Knowledge of human resource laws, regulations and best practices a plus.

Pay: $19hr - $22hr
