Job Summary: The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of maintenance operations of an asphalt plant, ensuring that equipment and facilities are properly maintained and repaired. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordination of all plant, shop, and equipment maintenance repairs, and ordering of supplies. Responsible for exercising careful comparison of prices.
Manage the inventory and ordering of lubrication products, and other equipment and truck needs including maintenance and accuracy of all records.
Assist in safety meetings. Follow up on all items raised in the safety meetings and make necessary corrections/changes.
Responsible for resolving mechanical problems/concerns as they occur during the workday.
Assure adherence to all safety rules and regulations.
Responsible for inspection and testing of all plant components on a daily, weekly and monthly basis or as needed, and the maintaining of inspection logs.
Provide training to other team members in proper maintenance of plant and equipment.
Shall be responsible for the coordination of necessary scheduled downtime for maintenance and repairs.
Perform general shop repair work including welding and fabrication.
Maintain inventories of spare parts, service tools, and supplies.
Provide input to the Site Manager on plant operations and needed downtime/man hours.
Coordinate repairs and service to be done by outside vendors.
Responsible for informing outside vendors of safety requirements and HazCom procedures.
Responsible for opening plant procedures with Plant Operators.
Assist in loading operations, weighmaster duties, recycle plant, dust control, and all other operational needs of the plant site.
Assist in monitoring the quality of imported material.
Attend seminars and maintain continuing education to facilitate plant operations and safety regulations.
Provide input for the annual budgeting process.
Research and development of new and used equipment.
Collaborate with other departments to prioritize maintenance tasks and ensure minimal disruption to operations
Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track work orders, inventory, and maintenance history
Requirements/Education/Experience:
Associate's degree in industrial maintenance or related field preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or related field
Strong knowledge of schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
Proficient in English language (both written and verbal), bilingual Spanish (verbal) a plus
Experience in maintenance management or supervisory role preferred
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify issues and implement effective solutions
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Must be able to tolerate the exposure and conditions of working outdoors
Must be able to work at a steady pace for full days
Valid CA DL
Physical Requirements:
Standing, walking, and sitting intermittently, throughout shift
Ability to utilize moderate manual dexterity for recordkeeping and telephone functions
Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, bending, and stooping when performing production activities
