Production Goldsmith Supervisor

As the Production Goldsmith Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing the team to ensure the efficient and high-quality production of jewelry pieces. Your expertise in lost wax casting will be essential in guiding the team to produce intricate and detailed pieces that meet our quality standards and deadlines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists Production Manager with hiring and training of team members.
• Oversees the daily workflow; oversees scheduling and assignments of the assigned team.
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Lead and supervise the gold casting, finishing, and gem setting team/operation, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of production processes.
• Master lost wax casting technique and provide hands-on training and mentorship to team members to enhance their casting capabilities and technical skills.
• Oversee the fabrication of wax models, investing, casting, and finishing processes, ensuring accuracy, precision, and adherence to quality standards.
• Coordinate with the design team to interpret design concepts and ensure that production processes align with design requirements.
• Manage the workflow of the team, assigning tasks, setting priorities, and adjusting resources as needed to meet production deadlines.
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels of materials and supplies required for production, and coordinate with procurement team for timely replenishment.
• Ensure that each casted piece undergoes thorough inspection and quality control measures to meet our standards for accuracy, finish, and integrity.
• Collaborate with the gem setting team to ensure precise and secure setting of gemstones, diamonds, and other embellishments on jewelry pieces.
• Establish and enforce safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
• Keep accurate records of production metrics, including materials used, casting parameters, labor hours, and output quantities.
• Continuously evaluate production processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
• Address any issues or challenges that arise during production, troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions to minimize disruptions.

SKILLS:

• Proven experience as a goldsmith with a specialization in lost wax casting, demonstrated through a strong portfolio showcasing your casting capabilities and technical skills.
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing procedures and regulations. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to production processes.
• Knowledge of jewelry materials, including precious metals, alloys, gemstones, and investment materials.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train, motivate, and collaborate with team members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, with the ability to effectively lead and manage a team of craftsmen.
• Expertise in all aspects of lost wax casting process, including wax modeling, investing, casting, and finishing.
• Familiarity with casting equipment, tools, and safety procedures.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds if needed with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to safely access and navigate production environment.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
