The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for comprehending and executing controlled process steps regarding the assembly or filling of products and capsules for our Product Fabrication customers. This is performed by analyzing job order instructions, routing cards, associated drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine the project requirements and sequence of production process steps. In addition, you will:
- Operate drill presses, power saws, grinders, metal lathes, rollers, hydraulic shears, air tools, and a variety of machine shop equipment and hand tools.
- Be responsible for all equipment, supplies, and inventories associated with the department and machine shop.
- Maintain daily communication with management to review the priorities set forth within the department.
- Promote good housekeeping practices and understand, follow, and respect all safety programs set in place.
- Estimate material and labor and recommend supplies and materials to be ordered.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Follow the established work procedures and control measures (including the use of PPE where issued) and any applicable SHE rules.
- Respect all guards, barriers, and permits at all times.
- Intervene when they see an unsafe act or condition.
- Report SHE incidents including near misses and unsafe acts/conditions immediately.
- Suggest areas for improvement to their manager.
- Support improvement measures.
- Co-operate in health screening and surveillance procedures as required.
- Support your fellow employees, contractors, and visitors to achieve a healthy and safe workplace and to care for the environment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Basic machine shop and math skills. Ability to read, write, and communicate in a professional manner.
- Specialized knowledge: Operation of drill presses, power saws, grinders, metal lathes, rollers, hydraulic shears, air tools, and a variety of hand tools
- Regularly exposed to heat, dust, noise, humidity, fumes, etc.
- May be required to work overtime or any shifts, including weekends.
- Use of power tools and equipment, including plasma cutter, torch, grinder, air tools, crimping guns, and other shop tools.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time in an office/industrial environment.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone
