SUMMARY

The Planning & Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for  the activities associated with managing the Credit Union’s and Business Line financial statements and performing interpretive analysis and provides "financial decision" support for actual and forecasted information. The position will act as a planning business liaison to senior and mid-level management teams by performing and understanding their business and financial reporting needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies and Information Protection requirements.
  • Serve as a proactive planner and business partner to assigned areas of the Credit Union by acting as the primary point of contact for planning reporting needs.
  • Provide analytical support in the development of the Credit Union and Line of Business  annual financial plan and periodic forecasts.
  • Prepare: monthly department expenses; project and FTE level variance reports; comparing monthly and year-to-date results with both plan and prior year results.
  • Act in a consulting capacity and provide support to the Finance Business Partners and Line of business focus groups.
  • Participate in varied, broad and cross-divisional assignments.
  • Perform interpretive analysis in order to provide process owners with cost or revenue improvement opportunities.
  • Continuously assess the Business Line and Credit Union's position relative to annual financial plan and forecasts..
  • Continuously assesses the Business line and Credit Union's long-term, forecasted position in relation to ever changing variables.
  • Responsible for coordinating the budget process for a specific Line of Business or Corporate level .
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and related regulatory matters.
  • Participates in the preparation of planning and forecast documents for Senior and Executive Management as well as the Board of Directors
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the PeopleSoft accounting system and Hyperion (w/Smart View) budget and planning system.
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses and financial forecasts.
  • Maintain effective communication with all Credit Union employees to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing Credit Union goals.
  • For the purpose of attaining Credit Union goals, it is the responsibility of each employee to strive for continuous quality improvement of processes and quality of service to internal and external customers.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient PC skills (Microsoft Office and flow-charting), with the ability to learn new software.
  • Background using Hyperion Budgeting and Planning tool and Smart View skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and work on multiple deliverables simultaneously and  in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively communicate in the English language.
  • Ability to work independently, and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgement in problem solving.
  • Full time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration, or equivalent work-related experience.
  • Five years of related experience in a financial institution, or comparable work or educational experience.
