Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking an Skin & Spar Surface Finish Tech to join our team in Puyallup, WA!
Perform surface finish/conditioning on coordination holes on tapered, tailored or integrally stiffened milled skins and spars using templates and jigs to properly position for subsequent finishing operations. Perform tasks such as reaming, countersinking and cold work to accomplish assigned tasks using templates and jigs to properly position for subsequent finishing operations on skin and spar parts such as wing skins, spars, stringers, webs, channel vents. Scribe tooling locations and reference lines as specified per engineering drawings and specifications. Diagnose and correct any detected discrepancies.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work from blueprints, templates, detail drawings, verbal instructions, etc.
- Check finished parts to insure they meet quality requirements and specifications, using micrometers, trammals, probes, and other precision measuring instruments and equipment to verify own work.
- Use hand and power tools to perform machined parts finishing duties similar in kind and complexity
- Operate ground controlled handling equipment to load and unload transportation equipment and to move parts within the shop.
- Perform rework as required performing tasks such as filing, scraping, sanding, grinding and hand finishing milled spar, skins and parts to gauge tolerances.
- Work may be performed with or without templates, jigs or fixtures.
- Locate points, holes, etc., from previously established, definitely marked, or generally known station lines or index points deriving measurements and related information from prints, changes, position boards, assembly pages, specification books, work orders, templates, jigs, fixtures, tooling of any authorized type and source
- Perform visual and functional checks on tools and accessories and correct settings and make adjustments as necessary.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 1 years of experience with sheet metal assemblies, drilling, countersinking, riveting, and fastener installation
- 1 years of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications
- 1 years of experience do you have in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Able to work 2nd shift & extended hours with short notice if needed to cover absences or adjoining shifts.
Typical Education:
High school graduate or GED preferred.
Relocation:
This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
Shift:
This position is for 2nd shift.
