Boeing’s Space, Intelligence, and Weapon Systems Phantom Works division is seeking a Mechanical System and Packaging Engineer (Mid-Level / Senior) in the Puget Sound area in support of Phantom Works Space programs. Phantom Works Space focuses on the development of the next-generation technologies utilizing rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies. We create the next generation products and services for the Boeing Defense, Space & Security business. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead new prototyping design and build projects manufacturing process development and execution.
- Develop and analyze electronic packaging for space vehicle systems.
- Ability to provide hands-on support in the completion of hardware projects.
- Lead development of project plan, budget and schedule and independently execute the plan.
- Provide inputs and expertise in electronics and mechanical packaging for proposal responses and new business development.
- Organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Mentor engineers in packaging design and general engineering practices.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Physics or related technical course of study is required.
- 3 years or more of engineering design and analysis.
- 1 year or more of Experience in electronics packaging development.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with space systems design and development
- Education and/or experience that spans multiple engineering design disciplines, including electrical and materials
- Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping methods.
- Experience with working in classified environments.
- Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information U.S. Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Typical Education/Experience:
(Mid-Level) Level 3
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master 3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
(Senior) Level 4
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD 4 years' related work experience, Master 7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for mid-level: $102,00 – $138,000
Summary pay range for senior level: $124,100 – $167,900
