JOB TITLE: ENGLISH LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT TEACHER
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL

Job Goal
To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum standards and objectives into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and indirectly through special area assignments.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- AZ Teaching Certificate
- AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Highly Qualified in English Language Arts for appropriate level
- Endorsed in Sheltered English Immersion
- Minimum of three years teaching experienceCore Job Functions
- Prepare and deliver instruction in the areas of reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and oral language development appropriate to the student population including curriculum that addresses learning styles, abilities, interests, behavior problems and student with special needs
- Effectively implement state and District standards
- Effectively implement Individual Education Plans
- Creates a weekly written lesson plan describing daily learning experiences – this weekly lesson plan is to be correlated with the aims and/or objectives in the curriculum guide and/or course outline
- Facilitate ongoing communication with mainstream classroom teacher(s)
- Collaborate with content area teachers in order to support the SEI Model and/or the Mainstream Models of instruction
- Lead the development and communication of Individualized Language Learner Plans (ILLP), as required
- Create a classroom environment conducive to positive, effective instruction
- Facilitate instruction based on current research-based best practices
- Communicates aims and/or objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language
- Use district and state assessment data to improve instruction and place students in appropriate instructional and intervention programs
- Provide individual diagnostic testing to assess the needs of students
- Participate in team reviews concerning academic progress of at-risk students
- Communicate concerns and idea with colleagues, students, parents and community in a positive, professional and ethical manner
- Document and resolve issues related to student behavior problems, and attendance
- Assumes legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Maintain accurate, complete, legible and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
- Participate in intervention process at sites
- Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings and parent conferences
- Participate in school and District initiatives
- Assume individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments

Salary : $54,567 - $66,797
